Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Cute, but I'm not sure what they are for. How do you wash eggs in those?
You put the egg inside of it and put the top on. Then run the water on top as you scrub the egg with the little rubber bristles

Harvested the garlic today. Only 55 bulbs it turns out. 19 Norquay hardnecks, 21 Music hardnecks, and 15 Messidor softnecks.

Between Music and Norquay, I would opt for growing the Norquay as they are larger. Also, I'd grow a lot more of the Messidor because they are supposed to last longer and I like being able to braid them. But, of course, the taste will have a lot to do with the final decision before planting this fall.

Who knows? I might go back to Kaija and see what other varieties they have this year. Quite a rewarding crop.

Are you going to save the biggest cloves to plant this fall and expand your garlic garden size?

The garlic hanging on the back porch had dried enough for me to clean it up and put it in storage. I trimmed off the tops, rubbed off the loose skin and trimmed off the dried roots with scissors. The largest heads/cloves will be for planting in October, and I'm shooting for saving 100 cloves out of the 60 heads I got. That should give me a year's worth of garlic plus cloves for seed.

Definitely saving Norquay and Messidor cloves for planting. I wondered how long it would take them to dry. I've heard 2 weeks and I've heard 2 months.. I guess I'll be able to tell when they're ready. They are hanging in the shed. I was able to braid the Messidor, the ones in the middle. The hard necks can't be braided. At least not now. Maybe when they are dry? IDK actually.

I planted horseradish out front old toilet.
That's the perfect place for it, so it doesn't spread. I have mine in the bottom half of a steel 55 gallon drum.

I have an old toilet that I'm trying to think of a use for. Maybe turn it into a two story nest box for the chickens, a nest in the bowl and one in the tank. I bet they'd like that!

ETA: Looked for pics and didn't find what I was looking for, but I found these...

My garlic was completely dried out in 10 days, 2 weeks? Something like that. But it was hanging under the roof of the back deck with a lot of breeze blowing by.

My garlic is a hardneck, but the stems were still pretty flexible. Most of them had already flopped over in the garden when I decided to dig them up.
