Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My garlic was completely dried out in 10 days, 2 weeks? Something like that. But it was hanging under the roof of the back deck with a lot of breeze blowing by.

My garlic is a hardneck, but the stems were still pretty flexible. Most of them had already flopped over in the garden when I decided to dig them up.
Oh good. Two weeks is so much more reasonable. It takes so long to grow it as it is. Waiting for it to dry is so hard. I want to try it.

Only the Messidor is soft neck. I would always include some soft neck because it lasts longer, well into the following spring. If you want a couple bulbs to plant I'd be happy to share.

I went out to the tables and boards in the coop.
Found morning glory working to climb the coop from the back.
Started climbing a dead tree we found this year a choke cherry.
This fall we will take it out maybe.
I have always hated morning glory.
DH started a berry patch of raspberry not having him care for it.
I going to kill the berry patch taking the morning glory with it.

Ruby, our dog, decided to run out and bark at a doe with her fawns yesterday. As near as I can tell, she was kicked by the doe. I know the doe chased her home because she came running across the yard yelping and crying the whole way, jumped through her door and ran to her bed to lay down, and continued to cry until I came to see her. Poor baby. Her front leg has a lump on it today, but she is walking fine with just a small limp occasionally. I think she will be fine, but I'm debating on calling the vet in the morning. I know there are no broken bones, but maybe it should be looked at anyway.

Think maybe she will stop this nonsense of chasing deer now? This is the second time a mama deer chased her all the way home, but the first time she actually got kicked by one. I'm hoping she will steer clear in the future.

And now I was up all night with Pipsqueak, the cat. He didn't eat all day yesterday and threw up blood last night. I'm afraid I'm losing him. He is 14. Trying to get hold of the veterinarian now.

Animals have all my attention this morning...except right now while I'm waiting for the vet to open.

I’m so sorry Valerie! :hugs

Definitely saving Norquay and Messidor cloves for planting. I wondered how long it would take them to dry. I've heard 2 weeks and I've heard 2 months.. I guess I'll be able to tell when they're ready. They are hanging in the shed. I was able to braid the Messidor, the ones in the middle. The hard necks can't be braided. At least not now. Maybe when they are dry? IDK actually. View attachment 4178320

Heck Girl I am so sorry!

Long day. To Longview for echocardiogram at 1 and then back home and up to Chehalis with Pipsqueak to the Vet. She ran a lot of tests, blood tests and X-rays included. Nothing shows up in the blood, but X-ray shows something going on in the stomach. We are trying some antibiotics and other supplements first, all injectable by the vet today, and then back to her on Friday for a follow up. There is a possibility of an infection, but I don't think the vet thinks that's it. She is just giving us time with Pipsqueak. If the meds don't work, then it is most certainly stomach cancer and that is not really treatable. So let's hope the medications work. I am emotionally preparing myself for the worst, but hoping and praying for the best. I have had a lot of cats over the years, but this will be the toughest good bye of all of them. We are pretty attached to the little guy...

Our little Pipsqueak in his younger days. He is a munchkin, hence the short legs.

Found a new treat for the chickens. My Mom lives about an mile down the road from me and she has apple trees in her back yard. well for some reason the apples are just falling off the tree they are not fully ripe yet but they are falling so I gathered them all up off the ground and brought them home for the chickens. This afternoon added about 8 apples (1 for each chicken) to the chicken run and they went crazzy!!!!:drool who would of guessed apples AKA chicken crack apples. :lau:drool:wee

I know not to give them too many I was just shocked that they ate them like it was the best thing they ever had....
