Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Morning all drizzle coming down steady.
Dogs all wet I have a pretty cool dog drier will blow a small dog off their feet style.
Snow wanted in the house so she had to get dried.
I usually do rub a dub a doggie with a towel.
Used the dryer on her did Mocha first then Moose then her.
She did not want to look am me but stood really nice.

I gave the chicks their first water today, dipped a few of their beaks in it so they'd get the idea. I don't think they're very thirsty just yet. But that will change when I start giving them starter crumbles later today. Went to the feed store and got two bags, one all purpose, one starter crumbles.

I'm trying the X-cell chick starter crumbles this time. I've always used Purina, but it's 18% protein and the X-cel is 20%. Cheaper than Purina too. And they like it!

One of the chicks had its first food this morning. A tiny spider fell into the brooder. A couple chicks pecked it to death and another one ate it. LOL

Wondering i I should be switching to Excel. 🤔 Have always used Purina crumbles and pellets, but you all are always touting the advantages of Excel. Think my rooster would be more virile if I switched to the higher protein?

I don't have any intention of incubating eggs, but I regularly have broody hens with no positive results. 😥

Xcell works for me and it's more affordable than Purina. Whether it would make your cock more cocky, I just don't know. LOL

Got thru the MRI okay. Took an hour and 10 or 12 scans at 4 minutes each. Fortunately, they played music of my choice through headphones and I was relaxed. Oh and ear plugs under that. You have to love OHSU.
Glad it went well Valerie.

The chicks are all active and eating the crumbles. I'm already seeing personality differences. One of them hangs back away from the others like it's timid, and a few are aggressive about getting their food.

I'm making up a new recipe tonight. I browned 4 chicken thighs, then chopped up 3 yellow onions and started cooking them then put the chicken on top. Salt pepper sage and rosemary for flavor. I'll cook it until the onions reduce and start browning. Sounds good but we'll see how it ends up.

Ooohhhh it was tasty, like chicken cooked in French onion soup. I also added some red wine 20 minutes before it was done. Looks ugly but tasted great.

That does not look ugly to me! I would make that too. Did you add chicken or veggie broth or just the wine?
