Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

One of the eggs from my RIR pullet hatched a little while ago. The other one hasn't pipped yet. I think the grandkids will be taking the chicks home with them on Sunday.

@pennyJo1960 , are you about ready for the pullets? They're almost 8 weeks old now and eating pellets, and I'm 99% sure they aren't cockerels.
Sure guess I can take a few here. Was foraging for food yesterday at Costco.

Got a new issue maybe you all can help. Since I now have BigUms in his own house and run, 2 of the littles (his sisters) will not go in the coop at night, they are on top of the coop. When he was in the run they were all in every night. Now they will not go in unless i go out and make them go in... with a lot of drama Any ideas??

We make all our hens go in at night. We just round them up when they are feeling like they want to be out. The coop is too high for them to get on the roof, but there are plenty of places for them to go and hide, including other coops, but home is home and we make them go in, rooster or no rooster. If you have to put them in, you have to put them in. Eventually they'll get the message. Better safe than sorry, I say.

However, a good rooster will get the hens in at night. I'm thankful to have always had one of those. But there are times when we have to help. lol
