Does anyone use a battery-operated chicken pop door? How do you like it? Is it reliable? I want to put one on my main coop. Too much shade and snow in the winter for the solar powered opener.

Mo -

I use automatic door openers. They are not battery powered (although they could be) so I have to plug them in. I don't think they are that noisy, and I sure like them. You do need to check them now and then, at times they don't open/close the doors because they've gotten out of adjustment, or the birds have unplugged it.

I like them a lot.

My chicken pop door opener is battery powered, recharged by a solar trickle charger. It works great! One of the best investments we've made for the coop. The trickle charger is supposed to keep the battery charged, and supposedly, if the solar panel was disconnected from the charger for some reason, it should take about 4 months for the battery to run low.

OK we are on our way to Cowgirlgrace's. PLEASE keep positive thoughts for us today. I am going to stay positive that we will bring Bella home today!!! I really hope this is a short search with good results. However I am going prepared to go late in to the night if we need to.

IF you can do ANYTHING to help text or call me 360-219-3092
Thanks Rob

I'm with you Kim, my parents were the same way. They were from Detroit. You can imagine the stuff that was said! Growing up here, we didn't have those same issues. When I went into the Navy, I was obviously exposed to many different ethnicity's and cultures. I didn't raise my kids the way my parents raised me, they have no preconceived ideas of race or disabilities. For that I'm glad. Besides, I did see a bit of the world and there is nothing that teaches us more about the cultures of others, then being in someone else's country! Thanks for sharing your story! BTW this is also the reason for my signature. I have been watching a few travel shows on PBS and one of the hosts always says that at the end of his show. A quote from Mark Twain. I thought it was a very appropriate quote, because it is very true.

Back in the day when I was in the Navy and on West pac, I used to think, "if more Americans had a chance to see what I see, and could know what I know about these places, maybe they would appreciate their Country more" ? I realize that freedom of speech means you can burn the Flag, but, if they only knew how people are treated in their own land, maybe they wouldn't" Anyway, lots has changed since then, and people do travel more, but, it seems to me, it's the ones that don't or can't travel that need to the most.
Sorry, didn't mean to go off track.....
