So... are there any tips for growing out a brooder full of cockerels without them hurting each other? I have 4 that have been going at each other pretty hard today. Their brooder box should be big enough for the four of them. It is 3.5' L x 2' W x 2' H. They are 3 weeks old tomorrow.

I've seen a lot of posturing and chest bumping in my brooder, but never actual damage.

That's what they are doing - except that they fly to get away from each other. Blackie hit the top screen pretty hard today and took a tumble. 2nd time I've seen him do that - scares the living daylights out-a me to see it happen. I also get worried they're going to peck each others eye out - they get pretty close to it when they stare each other down.

This has been a new experience for us ... our 6 month old girls don't even fly as high as these boys (with exception of Rhodie).

Today I got my catalogue I ordered from Meyer Hatchery and I am having a blast
looking at all the breed of chicks for next round of hens choices choices!
Hoping to go with a place in Ore. [can't remember the name of]
that moved in Woodburn.
Or maybe out of the one in Napa Id.
just because it's closer
but then again there is always the feed store chicks in the spring too.
One of the other places orders out of Az. I think it is
and a breeder suggests mt. healthy.
