Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I removed the spurs on a rooster today. it was suprisingly easy and no blood really and the rooster didn't even squirm. I though it was going to be hard and/or icky but it wasn't! Watched a youtube vidoe and went out and did it. One skill down, about 100 more to go!

It's amazing what you can find on youtube! May have to do AI on some of my silkies and possibly my Favs, if trimming butt fluff doesn't help! You can find how to vids on that! Unbelievable!

Good Job Kim, I remember you were kind of worried about trying this the first time. Gotta love YouTube.

Of course, after I finally managed to get reasonable photos of Blossom and Dearie, today they're bigger and starting to show their mature, patterned plumage; Blossom is also an inch taller than she was when I took the pictures!

They were really listless yesterday, and I was worried except they got up and avoided my hand when I put it in to pick them up and examine them; I think chicks are like babies, and need sleep before their growth spurts?

anyone have experience with incubating with a Little Giant 9200... My friend and I have copper marans and olive eggers set (40 of them) and this is our first time incubating...normally I hatch with a broody :)... we have the automatic egg turner but dont have anything to gauge humidity yet....We rigged a tube to the water well in bottom of bator so we can fill it without opening it... anyone have any suggestions for a good hatch/ good product suggestions? should we get the forced air fan? please HELP!! :)

Just to note: Mountain Beavers (Aplodontia rufa) are much bigger than the size CL described, and have tails so short that they disappear in their fur. They are also really...un-cute. Anti-cute, even.
