Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

WOW, this thread is really dead! Is there something going on that I don't know about or is everybody just that busy today. Come to think of it, it has been really slow the last few weeks.
HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Doing too much online shopping!

Today was go to Costco day and then DW brought home Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. So I was MIA for quite a few hrs. Interesting movie though, graphic and glad I didn't see it in the theater. Free Redbox on Living Social is an ok price for us.

Yeah, I was impressed that my husband actually got up with our son 3 out of the 4 days and let me sleep until noon. But the mess was growing each day, the trash hadn't been taken out, dishes not done, vacuuming, laundry, all that fun stuff just waiting for us to catch up on it. Yay. I would love to show you the snakes and other critters! Those are dirty right now, too, of course! *Nothing* gets done when I'm sick. And I would love to see your set up. I'm very new at this and I'd love to learn how you do it!

I disappeared tonight because I finally put the FIRST COAT OF PAINT on the coop!

Sadly it's paint that won't even be visible, but I'm painting the outer part of the frame before the sheathing is put on, in case moisture gets under the plywood. I got everything except the top of the top plate and the inside of the cabinets (those can be done later). If I can get one more coat on, I can put the hardware cloth on the lower level and the sheathing will hold it in place. Maybe I can get that done tomorrow! If I can get *something* painted on the coop every day, it'll help a lot. If Lamont can't come for a few days, I think I'll take the bolts out and pull out the walls, and paint in between layers. I'm OCD that way....

I was so busy painting the coop I didn't get around to it. I'll just put her in when I add the silkies. The Polish hen has already pecked the blue silkie in the head once when I left the cages open (the little brat went right into the silkie's cage and did it, the snot!), so if I add her at the same time she should be distracted and hopefully go easy on the silkie.

Sadly, the little white silkie is back inside tonight. She spent hours out in the brooder with the rest, and I saw her eat at times, but I had to stand her up after a few hours, and she was lying down again, breathing hard, when I was done painting. Something is still wrong, but don't know what. She poops, she eats, she drinks (although when she's fallen she doesn't), but she has trouble with her legs. I'm going to look up Marek's, maybe she's got it?

Welcome back!! Sorry to hear you are fighting an a.i. disease!!

There are several of us on here fighting similar things, it seems! At least a couple of us have Celiac disease and I'm fighting with fibromyalgia and Charcot-Marie-Tooth Ds., which is a neuropathy. I think we understood how hard it is to fight these things and struggle with extreme fatigue and pain. It is so hard to explain to people about conditions they can't see or ones they don't hear about in the media. I really hope you find something that works for you to get relief!!!

OK, 3 birds named Heather is a reference to the 80s movie Heathers, with Shannen Doherty, Christian Slater and Winona Ryder. Did I win????
YOU WIN!!!! And they totally act exactly like the characters in the movie...

Thanks for the well wishes. I am phenomenally fortunate that my spouse is incredibly supportive, despite this disease cutting well into my salary since I am out of leave days. I hope a solution or a remission is in your, and everyone else's, immediate future!

Quick bird name LOL for y'all -- The 3 bantam "Easter Eggers" are the newest to the flock, only here for about a fortnight now. 2 of the 3 are sweet and friendly... the 3rd is nasty-aggressive - kicks and bites. I am generally not interested in feeding something that bites me, so when she was not present at dusk headcount Saturday I wasn't really sad and didn't do much of a jailbreak search. Didn't even consult the Fowlcatraz Bloodhounds (Clumbers... but you use whatcha' got! LOL). Had to come home from work early today (I consider it an accomplishment I made a bit more than 5 hours, though!) and there she was in the exercise yard.
Spouse thinks she looks like a lion, so I wondered aloud if we should name her after the Tiger that mauled Roy in his Sigfried & Roy show at the Mirage. "Montecore", I believe. Spouse is a stickler for details, however, so a tiger name when the bird looks like a LION is no. My next idea was "Rabies" and that was put into consideration, but she is also putting forth the evil lion in the Lion King movies, "Scar".
The last nasty bird we had was about 6 years ago one of our pigeons, we called him Ba***rd without the stars. Fortunately for him, but not us, he fathered the very strongest chicks (we never lost any chicks of his, other nests were a bit better than 50% and a pair surviving was rare, All of his survived.) and the best flyers, so we ended up keeping him around, though it meant I couldn't do pigeon chores b/c he'd attack me particularly viciously. He died of old age FINALLY after about 3 years with us.

I'll try to remember to report when we do decide on a name for her. And if she bites me again she better plan to have the most awesome eggs EVER... like with flashing neon advertising or something.
