2 Days ago I got the "water vole" in the mini hav-a-hart trap in my green house !
yesterday I went in the green house and found the Victor's rat trap tripped and a sparrow smashed in it.
Baite on the Victor's is a half walnut tied on with dental floss.
How a bird got in there I have no idea !
How a water beaver vole got in there is a mystery also !!!!!!!!! But I figured it must have burrowed in...but a sparrow ?????????????

That's a fairly rare disease. My brother and mom were diagnosed with that several years ago. No fun at all there. I lucked out on not getting much in the way of allergies or issues from mom.

I have Hashimotos, reminds me I have not taken the pill this morning.
I also have Celiac Disease, Raynaud's Syndrom, and Livido Reticularis......now the doc is keeping an eye out for Atkinson's (I think it is called) auto-immune attack on adrenal gland.
So far, all is just hunky dorrie here !

CL.... Since I can't walk across the street with my bird and simply show you, I tried to take a couple of pictures today.
But first I want to say that her cushion looked pretty clean this morning when she was walking around. I could only see dirty feathers when I picked her up to examine her vent area.
Question #1: does that mean she doesn't really have mites?

Here's a picture of her bottom -- the only dirty feathers are the matted ones near my fingers:





I also noticed she's got a lot of bare skin on her belly (see pics below). She's not being broody, and I haven't seen her feathers decorating their pen.
Question #2: Is this a normal molt or something else?







So be on the safe side regarding the mites, I dusted her, my EE, and their perch.

Matted feathers near your fingers may have been mite eggs...dust her good a few times a week.
But the pattern of baldness on her is most often due to being broody.
And looks as if some feathers are growing back.
**** Edited to add::::::::::: if there is mites, you should be able to dig around on the bird's vent-to-"crouch" area and see the little devils.

How long in between wormings do I wait? I've read 7 days and 10 days. I'm at 9. Should I finish the job tonight or can it wait until tomorrow?

The idea to worm twice, with 2 weeks in between, comes from the issue of worm eggs hatching.
So, if you waite too long, these eggs can hatch & begin laying yet more eggs.
If you do not waite long enough, the parasite eggs are unhatched and so do not get likked.
Hope this helps you understand.
The first time you worm, it kills adult worms, but not eggs.
Then, after 2 weeks the eggs have hatched & you worm again...this is what I have been told, but I do suppose it depends on the type of wormer you are using too.

Also, though you're less likely to get holes punched in you, or otherwise suffer bloody injury, it was a recently despurred RIR rooster that gave me my permanent black-hornet-sting adhesion and nerve injury thirty years ago last March. So aggressive roosters who go after people need to be considered very, very carefully.

You can glue ping pong balls on the aggressive guys....

ha! I caught up again !
Orthopaedic doc says NO I do not have to have surg now, unless I want to have an Athroscopy...and I do have meniscus missing, so that is likely how the femur slips off the tibia....the pain resulting would cause the leg to "go limp & give out" causing the fall (like a sacka taters !)
I am thankful I have not busted any bones....but he did say bones are much easier to heal than ligaments & tendonal tears.
So...
I continue my home PT exercises, I can go to a "real" PT if I want to (gotta check insurance coverage first)
But...I am healing & the "shredded" remainder of ligaments are healing...so that is great news !
We have far too many "issues" going on right now for me to have surgery & a 6-8 week bed rest term...................
Maybe next year, maybe it will all heal and never have another fall

Roof contractor was here last night, game plan was gone over, Wednesday is the $$$ issue day, so what we'll need now (ha ha ha ) is about 2 weeks of decent dry weather.................

Also, I need tips on planting:
1) The dahlia "Bhuella Ruth" tubers..................do I bust them up ?
Points up ?
Sideways ?

2) The Crocosmia::: Is it as invasive as I have read ?
Should they go into a container rather than in the ground ?
And, do I bust up all the rings, or does growth only occur on the "new" ends ??????????
So each "ring" would not necessarilly grow ???

I am a vegie gardener...not a flower gardener !!
