Hello,
I went to the Enumclaw Chicken auction this morning. It was crowded and had every ethnicity imaginable present. I didn't expect to see Chinese, Mexicans, Native Americans and Africans from Africa (traditionally dressed) at the auction. That was cool.
They seem to be getting rid of a lot of roosters and bantams.
My 11 year old son commented on how roughly they handled the birds. One lady in the audience swore and yelled at the handlers for being to rough with the chickens. They moved pretty fast through the auction.
I know you are supposed to pick Turkeys up from the shoulders but I didn't think that was the practice for chickens.
I usually girdle my chickens and then shift my grip to high up their thigh.
It was kind of a tight space. Maybe next week I will get there earlier and get a good seat.
They all seemed to go pretty cheap (no pun intended).
Many seemed muddy and the arena smelled badly like chicken poop.
The rest of the pavillion was pretty friendly and they had a country band staffed by octogenarians.
It was mostly cool.
