My problem with Gypsy Vanners is that now that they're in America, they're being over-bred, over-rated, and ruined. . . There's even some breeders in the NW with poor conformation horses, and plenty with Gypsy Cob CROSSES at purebred price and advertisement.

But yes, the original is very beautiful

That is just like German sheps when they got popular here in the states. to this day I will not touch a American bred shepard
did you know that the dog most responsible for attacks is a german shepard?

ThankGod that there is relatively few GS's around...now Pitbulls I can live without, I have had 4 dear friends mauled, 1 a 4 yo girl, and the dog tore her face off like a rubber mask,,,biting through an ear and 1 eye...ripped her neck open and tore the jugular...she barely lived, and is hideously scarred...Her father shot the dog.
In California every freak in the neighborhood has at least 2 pitbulls...and dog fights and pits attacking kids/other dogs/ and adults is an everyday occurance and yet their owners swear they are the most wonderful dogs.
They are not dogs, in my opinion...they wer bred for fighting and killing and they do.
At the drop of a hat, snap, for no reason we can see...and why take a chance like that ?
You should have seen that little girl...she had 2 neighborhood girls playing with her when it happened, the attack could have been all 3 girls, I will not have a pitbull, or alligators or poisonous snakes either, all in the same group.

tell me what to ask for. I have a grainery right by my sisters house. I get things like whole oats and steel cut oats for super cheap maybe they have Quinoa

We are searching for a web site or mill (like a feed mill) close by that sells feed grade washed quinoa in 50-80# sacks for animals...not the fancy smancy organic human stuff that is too expensive.

Where did you read that German shepherds were #1 for dog attacks??????? I have a 14 year old GSD that I have had since she was 6 weeks old. she has NEVER came close to biting anybody.
I guess it just depends on what books you read. The last time I read anything on the subject. This is the order of breeds for bites and attacks (1) pitbulls, (2) rotts (3) dobermans (4) cockers (5) GSD
The last time I read (about a yr. ago) the most Popular dogs for familys were. (1) golden retreiver (2) labs (3) GSD

Now, dogs. . . . That is a very controversial, serious, and often heated topic for me.

But yes, I also will not touch any American bred German Shepard. However there are some DDR bred ones in the states.

But otherwise, they've been severely ruined. Especially their topline!

As for the bite records thing - I think anyone who is against Pit Bulls or any other bully breed is, well -

Own a pit bull, do some non-biased research, talk to real owners, trainers, THEN you'll see who are the real aggressive dogs.

For one, a majority of the attacks from so-called pitbulls are made by people who can't tell the difference between a Pitbull and an American Bulldog; a Dogo Argentino and a Bull Terrier. It's called mass media biasing. If the news tells you so, then you think it is so.

The true biters out there are Shepherds, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Spaniels, and Retrievers who are under rage syndrome, as it is a common problem with them.

This of course doesn't mean they're all bad. I personally have never known a bad Chihuahua, and most Dachshunds I've known to be aggressive are so because the owner never trained them right.

The problem is not the breed but the humans who have the breed. Where do you see the most pitbulls? (btw there are officially somewhere around 8 different breeds that are lumped as pitbulls) Pitbulls are most found in lower income neighborhoods that have a lot of issues on its own. Throw in a Gladiator breed like pit, rott, dobberman, shepard, or any power breed meant to hunt/fight and your going to have abused animals that fight back.

I think the most dangerous animals are the highly inbred unstable designer dogs either 100#'s or 5#'s or the animals that are abused and never trained or trained to be mean. No matter what breed if it is in this kind of situation they can and will bite back.

That being said. Anyone who owns a Gladiator breed should be responsible for their dog. If your going to own a dog with those natural instincts then you had better know what the heck your doing. If you don't then get a soft bred like a lab or retriever.

Its been awhile since I read the stats but it all depends on what they used for stats. needless to say GSD's are in the top 5 for bite dogs.

RIGHT ON GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not the dog in most cases but stupid irresponsible people...too bad so many innocents are killed or mauled everyday because of idiots like that.
BYW::: I love GS and Belguim Shepards and have had both as well as Gary raised and shown Dobies for YEARS...and no problem, but that was in the 70s-90s and alot of inbreeding has occured since...still, we trained all our dogs.
They minded beautifully and never bit anyone except burglers who broke in...stupid guys...thought thye could 'talk down' the freaking dobie !!!

Yes the topline on american shepards is toast... its so easy to see good breeding vs bad just because of that.
I love Dogo's!
The rarest dog I've personally met was a Brazilian Fila... now talk about a Gladiator breed! 200# average size originally bred to keep slaves on the plantation and jaguars off in south america. They are totally devoted to only 1 person and heaven forbid if you are aggressive towards that person in any way.
