Illia, winter is setting in and critters large and small are abandoning their soggy woodland homes and coming in from flooded fields and looking for a cozy warm dry place to winter.
Mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, skunks and possums, and racoons too...all looking for a winter warm place.
Hope the little stinker is not living under your house!
And really hope the little stinker is not a pregnant mommie-skunk-to-be !!

Well, it's official and all in! My next hatch contains 13 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, 11 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans, and 7 Olive Eggers, 3 of them will be Sex-Linked.

I really hope, oh I do, that all my Olive Eggers are fertile!!

I also hope for at least a 40% fertility on the Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans. . .

I got so few eggs that I didn't want to sacrifice even one to check fertility.

Today is day 1. . . Can't wait to candle them in a few days.

Once my Araucanas finally pick up in production, I'll continue putting more Olive Egger eggs in my second incubator, and whatever other Olive Egger eggs from my Marans as well as any extra Blue Wheaten Marans eggs I may find within the next week or two.

this link works for a plastic skunk trap..
I just ordered some of their enclosed long rat traps that are like a long box. rattikins love to go in, and are trapped !
No more big nasty Victor's rat traps that the chickens can get snapped in...
Illia, will you have my BW Am cockeral from this next hatch or the last ?
I am going to save you rabbit smart pills,

Good luck on your hatches Illia and Robin.

I ended up with 7 BLRW and 4 Crele OEGB's from my last hatch. Very happy with the outcome! Also finished the Orp Coop, gotta get photo's uploaded one of these days!

I can top that. I was living in New York City when my first son was born. We had your basic slum landlord. My son was allergic to everything except breast milk, so I nursed. One night I woke up to a mouse, clawing at the front of my night gown, trying to figure out where the milk it could smell was!!!!!!!!! I didn't sleep until my husband filled every nook and cranny a mouse could get in with steel wool.

I use Tumblr.com for my blog. I am not very good at blogging, but the site is free and easy to use. SpeckledHens Son uses blogspot.com for his blog. I don't know how easy it is to use, but I love reading his blog. I am reasonably sure that the blog that he isn't paying for his blog. georgianbacon Is the name of SpeckledHens son's blog. He is in the country of Georgia. He is helping one of the schools there with there English program. The blog is very interesting. My daughter blogs on another site, but I can't remember what it is at the moment. I hope that this helps some.

I want your skunk. At least I want it after it has been de-skunked. I would call it a Norwegian Snow Kitty. I have been told that they can make great pets. I don't think it's legal to own in this state though. I think that is a big bummer. If I ever have to live in Wisconsin I am going to get one for sure. I understand that it is legal there. I really don't want to live in Wisconsin, but DH works for a company that is in Racine WI. So it could be possible one day that we could have to live there.

Yes, they make really good pets, but yes, they're illegal in Washington.

Hey, anyone care if their Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana is rumpless?

Because of the three I hatched a little while ago, I've got two girls, but. . . They're somehow rumpless. No, I don't have any Araucanas who could have possibly sired them, because the only one who could have would have made a duckwing colored Easter Egger. (Which I have one of) Hmm.
