New coop photos! These two pens were built for my Lav and BBS Orps that Robin brought up for me in August. Eventually, I'll have the lav's on one side and the BBS on the other. Right now all the Orps are together on one side and the 4 LF Lavender Ameraucana are on the other side until they all grow out over the winter.

Nice coop. Gorgeous. Good job. Come build me one. DH and I are both hammer illiterate. Nothing we do is straight. Oh, well, the ladies have a roof over their head and a nice safe run.

Had to have my eyes dilated today and now I have a headache. Don't ya' love it when the teenager comes in and tells you that he loves you....I ALWAYS know that he wants something. Fortunately tonight it was just a late night snack of popcorn and lemonade. that is an easy one.

Going to bed. Night all.

Possible Patriot Farms Order:

Ok I'll be calling Scott when I wake up and letting him know I have at least 40 bags (1 ton!) to order if he can deliver to North Seattle.

If you have not given me a #-item list please do so now so I can add to the list when I talk to Scott.

http://patriotfarmandbison.com/Hay--and--Grain.php

So far I have a offer for place to house the order in Auburn and also my place in North Seattle....
I also have a possible pickup and move farther north to Snohomish area for orders going even farther north.
(Please add $ for gas to anyone who is willing to drive and pick up orders to get to your local area)

Please remember this is all theory until I can talk Scott into a delivery! There might be a delivery fee.
I am trying to talk him into possible delivery once every 2 or 3 months.
So anyone who would like to get feed from Patriot Farms please let me know what you would order for a 2 or a 3 month basis.
# of bags of (type of feed) etc.

Ok sleepy time for me

Here is some more fun for all...and check out the salmonella contamination on pig ears for dogs!
So you give you dog a pig ear and sit and watch him eat it and you now have salmonella on your hands.
Also saw some recalls for gluten free pasta (mac-a-cheese) aimed at celiac (and probably Graves' disease ) children...recalled as the pasta was actually plain old wheat pasta !!
Man sometimes I wonder why I eat things declared gluten free but get so sick (for 3 weeks) anyway...now I know.

The reason I am on this web site is to hunt down the WA state food saftey, or dept of health egg handlers' permit...I heard there was a class you take and a permit issued in order to legally sell eggs to the public...any one know the link please post.

Peanut butter!!! And the CAB FRESH. Since I got my car all detailed and a bag of that, NO MICE!

I went through a week of peanut butter on the traps, caught a few...then nothing so switched to chocolate frosting, and caught alot, 6-7 and 3 rats...then nothing, so then tied the cheddar and they ate if off the traps so went to the sticky velvetta.
I have seen the cab...is it killer or repellant ?
I did not read the label.
I did pop the trunk in the classic car stored here, and there was rat candy in there (poson) and a dead mouse that was little more than fur, a skeleton and a dried up tail...and five or 6 big slow moving maggots...ca ca !!!
I hate the poison, they die and stink...we had one in the defroster of our new mini van DH insisted they could not get in unibody construction, yeah right...every morning we would go fire up the van and turn on the defroster and the GACK!!!!!!! dead rotting stink would about make you hurl...and I swear the stink would cling to my hair and clothes like cigarette smoke does...yuck!!!!!
Yippee for the snow !

Course probably not fun if you have to function in it...and Clarence is going to think it is spring time when he comes to live here !!!
His coop is almost ready !!!

Okay, someone give me some advice......

The vet's office called: They had originally called me on this older puppy that the people cannot keep, she is pomeranian and something...just a doll of a dog...so cute and sweet. Well, they decided to try and make it work, now the owners are having to move to an apartment and puppy needs a home.

Well, we just adopted another older pup, she is 6 months old...some kind of terrior/chiuahua mix.

So - do I really want yet another 6-8 month old puppy? Why is all of this a big deal....this would be dog #5. All my dogs are smaller (10# or less). I mean, come on...do I really want 5 dogs? I used to have 6, I was down sizing as they expired (from very old age). Regarding my family - I am out-voted. They all want the puppy, guess who will be doing all the work though - ME.

They do not have any other options for this sweet puppy, though. If I did adopt this second puppy, it would give first puppy a friend who is of the same age.

AHHHHHHHHH

Okay, I noticed in my wording above: "want" maybe should be changed to "need" as I WANT them all. I feel like I am becoming a hoarder.

GOOD MORNING!!! I'm feeling mentally betterafter our trip to Squim yesterday, and a good nights sleep. I can't really say I miss the crabby old mares, but I know someone out there does. Luckily I didn't allow myself to get attached, but the drive up to the farm was dicey at best, me, my sister, and my cousin, all fighting off tears... I know I did what was best for them, and thank you all for ALL of the suport you have given me over the past few days. Its been rough.

BUT now I can get back to my chickens!!! I love me some liottle fluffy butts! And I even love my four pullets, even though they are refusing to lay for me...

I hate waiting the LONG wait for that first egg... I keep thinking that my BR or the Delaware are gonna squirt one first, but at this moment in time... Well its a guessing game. I will laugh hard if the Silky lays first, she's an honry little ball of fluff. lol She makes me giggle, with her prehistoric looks, and all the cackling that she does.

I think today, while the sun is still with us, I might just start putting the addition on the coop! 8'x4' pallets will be the framework for the walls, I already have plywood, just waiting to be used. PLUS I have a 5'x8' pre made roof, so a part of the run will be covered!!!

Thats a tough one... Especially knowing that you will wind up with the extra work. Is the pup at least partially house broke? Any health issues that are known? Fixed unfixed? I guess it really boils down to, can you handle two pups, and do you have the finances for two new pups? I know that with my three dogs, they are all I can handle inside my house, 3 is my dog limit. Or I should say, my husbands limit...

If you don't mind the extra pup, or the extra little bit of work, have plenty of love, can afford the exrta bit of feed, and care... Then I would say go for it. Even if its only a temperary foster situation.
