I don't know the link but try the WSDA. They will send you a packet of the handling procedures and lots of other stuff. All the permit is is an add on to your business license. I think it's around $20. All I did was pay for the license and then read the packet to see what was required. You are allowed to sell from the farm with just a business license but the egg handlers license allows you to sell away from the farm like a Farmers Market and then of course the Health Department sticks their nose in it. You will have to grade your eggs to size and by A, AA etc and you also need to buy the stickers to put on the egg carton stating so. Lots of labeling issues but you can buy the egg cartons preprinted with all the needed info. If you call the WSDA they will explain everything.
Lost this post and had to go back...the thing about the labeling of eggs carton...I will assume that does not need to happen as we use used egg cartons that are already labeled with safe handling instructions...If and when I get rich and hopefully not famous, and can afford to purchase my own cartons (a dream for sure
) then they will have to be labeled with the safe handling instructions as well as our farm name and address.
The link I am searching for was posted a while back and had a 'class' maybe an on line class, but a class nonethe less that had instructions on how to properly wash eating eggs, and what solution to use, etc and maybe is the $20 for a handler's permit...I will keep searching...thanks Cowgirl~
