sigh... it must be the season to scalp your neighbors... One of my juvenile cockerels was scalped this morning by a hen (since i put my adult roo in the garage at night theres no way it was his work)
So now I have him cleaned up and in the hospital crate. Poor thing

Thanks for answering my question Chicken Rustler. I wuill have to talk to the bee keeper again and see what location he would like to use, so I can make sure its far enough away that no accidents happen with the dogs, horses, or my DD... Thanks again!

We have "raised" mason bees for years.
Because alot of garden and seed catalogs have offered "mason bee hives" or packs of sticks, or tubes for them to live in and sooo expensive, I had DH get a block of wood, not cedar, and drill assorted sized holes in it, 3 to 4 inches deep, like a 4x4 block of wood...not treated or cedar.
You can also use a 2x6 or 2x8 etc drill the holes in the wood so they go in long way, not the 2" side.
Mount this block of wood under an eave, on the southwestern side of your house if at all possible. They will find it and there is soo many sizes of mason and carpenter bees.
I have some stuff stored out in a shed, and one item is an easle that has screw holes drilled into it that is apart right now, and to put it together I will have to bust the bees out of every hole

no I will not do it til they come out in spring...but the busy bees have laid an egg in the screw holes, and put pollen in for the larvae, and them seal the hole with mud.
They love holes, so much so that if you draw a black dot on a picnic table and have time to watch...sure enough here will come a carpenter bee and try to get in the "hole"

But yeah..you will not get any honey from mason or carpenter bees.

Yeah before I had Chloe I liked to bounce around alot. I moved from Bainbridge Island to N. Seattle when I was 16, stayed there until I was 19 then moved to Mountlake terrace, back to Kingston, then stupidly back to seattle to live with my ex. When I was 21 I moved myself out to S. Dakota to work on a ranch, I came back home when I found out my dad had lung cancer, bounced around from Kingston, Bremerton, suquamish, Bainbridge Island, and back to seattle. Then I left my ex, and lived on the streets for a little while "2 weeks" got my own place, moved my DH in with me, then moved to Edmonds, then Tavares Florida, Back to the Kingston area, then to Renton, back to kingston, and now here I stay... (I know I am leaving out at least 2-3 locations...)

So yeah I moved myself around quite a bit between the ages of 16 and 26... I think Ive moved more and farther away than anyone else in my imediate family... We finally stopped bouncing around when we found out I was prego with Chloe. And yes, I have been on my own sence I was 16 years old... Hopefully Chloe will stay with me longer than that.
