I think you are the 'Net Worker', Phil called you the "net work queen" so that's a good title for you !
And you are "the Urban Farmer" also...you also have the "Downtown Seattle Feed Store" but that may be too long....hmmmmmmm

I talked to the wine steward at my local Safeway, and she was able to point out some differently coloered bottles. Also there are some larger beer bottles that are unusual. And I bought a couple at the dollar store. Michaels also has decorative bottles. I looked online, but they seemed very expensive.

Russ

I am sure you could find a lot of colored bottles at a recycling station.

This is the best place to get bottles if you are impatient and do not want to just save your own bottles...I have gotten cases and bottled my own wine.

That kind of talk is like chocolate to a sugar addict for me. It's my dream shopping list come this spring, with maybe a BLR Wyandotte in the mix. Every time you guys post photos it's like I'm window shopping with a pocket full of cash burning a hole in my pocket. (I'm only fantasizing that wad of cash part.) I love Christmas but as soon as it's over I'm drawing plans for my coop and looking for supplies, since I'm hoping I can use found materials. I'm looking to build an "all in one" coop with part covered/uncovered pen for between 4-6 hens, and planning to allow the girls to free range while we're out in the yard. We do have eagles and hawks here since we're close to so much wooded area and Chambers Bay, so I'm worried about someone getting swooped up, though we do have lots of trees and shrubbery here in our yard. Reading all my chicken books and planning is all I can do til the weather gets nicer so DH and his buddy can start my project. It feels like it's forever until spring gets here!

I AM looking for bottles.

Last year we had the cutest little bottle tree made by one of our customers for sale. It was tapered so that when we put green wine bottles on it, it looked like a Christmas tree. I tossed a small string of lights on it and displayed it in our window. At our family winery, we sell wine and beer making supplies. Although we do sell bottles brand new, we often suggest that our wine makers go "dumpster diving" for wine bottles from the nearby jazz clubs and restaurants. We're located near the 6th Avenue business district in Tacoma which is loaded with those places in a concentrated 6 block area. They go through tons of wine, all different brands and just set that stuff out to recycle all the time. They don't care who comes to get it. After they're washed with hot soap and water they can be sterilized with a sodium metabisulfite solution if you're actually going to use them for a "potent potable". For a bottle tree soap and water will be just fine!

hi all
its been a while, had finals last week and yesterday i had surgery

my tonsils are out. i hate gargling or drinking water but love applesauce.
pain killer is my new best friend.
its been dumping snow here all morning.
parents are taking care of chickens
my throat feels so weird, the scabbing is annoying. looking in its amazing to see 2 giant holes where the tonsils were... the glands in my neck have reduced in swelling by half since the tonsils were taken out. the Dr. told my parents (while i was sleeping still) that my tonsils were scarred, pitted and rotten.
I made sure they gave me anti-nausea meds to go with my pain killer. though yesterday i didn't make it down the hallway in the hospital once i was discharged before emptying my stomach.
thanks to my moms dog nail cutting skills i need to find a change of clothes because the dog bled on me from both its back feet. awesome, the stains better come out of my jammies and blanket.
tonight i am taking my ambien, didn't last night on the theory the pain meds will knock me out, it did but went out of my system at 3am, and didn't really sleep any more..... one nice perk so far having my tonsils out it seems like i sleep with my mouth closed more often again, though i didn't have my retainer in (already going to have bad morning breath without its help...)

despite my health during my first semester at WSU, it seems most of my final grades are A's and B's with biology 106 being a C+. some i got emails from profs letting me know, and the biology one is an estimate. still waiting for all profs to post final grades online. they were supposed to yesterday by 5pm.....

I saw the chicks the other day, it looks like most of the chicks are fathered by the EE roo. interestingly enough, some do not have tails..... I am curious if i have a small Buff brahma X EE many look to be interesting crosses. but all have gold legs except the jersy giant and somehow i have a blue andulsian chick that turned out normal even though its not a pure cross.... the chicks are almost 2 months old now.
