Need to post some happy news - my 3 hens each lay 6 eggs per week!!!! I have no supplemental lighting, and the coop has no windows, I don't even get up before the sun to let them out anymore since the kids have been on vacation. I thought there needed 14+ hours of light per egg? Unless they are somehow absorbing it from the pulletts, I don't get it. They are all so friendly now. The RIR who used to be aggressive just wants to be held every time I go check on them. When I open the run door, they all come out and crowd around me ... I shove the EE's back in, I think they will go up a tree. My Australorps who used to be shy now wants tobe pet, though she does not care to be held, and she gets a bit noisy when I remove the eggs. She does not sit on them, but she roosts on the nest-box cut-out and watches the eggs until someone gets them. She makes a bunch of noise, and then goes to join the other hens at the flock block .... it's like their morning coffee.

What do you all do for worming/medication? I'm hoping I can just treat if there is an issue. Is it necessary to treat for prevention? Other than for Marek's as babies, I have not treated mine. They all look healthy and happy. I keep their environment clean, but we do have wild birds around, including grouse.

Awww! I miss the baby days.....

My first ultrasound wasn't until I was around 5 months along. That's when I found out there was twins! Wish I would have known it earlier! I was 18 and beating myself up pretty bad about getting so fat so quick! Now I would give anything to have had more kids. I love being a mom. It is truly one of God's greatest gifts.

Congratulations!

I am trying to convince DW that we should buy a school bus to use as a moving van. We could sell the bus or convert it into a RV when we are done with it. A small uhaul is about $1500 so that is what I want to spend on the bus.

I like the pedal idea ... DH would look quite handsome if he had to pedal up our hill every evening! I'd have to get myself in shape too then.

DH has been calling around. Can find plenty of New Beetles, but none are Turbo Diesel. He found one in Missouri and was talking about having it shipped. I think that the dealer must have some deal with the scrapper; gets a kickback from him or something. No way an otherwise beautiful and well maintianed car should be scrapped because it needs a new engine.

Sounds like a good idea...
You can also check up on cargo containers.. they are about $85 a month to rent and I think the companies that rent them can ship too.
I've been checking the buying end so dunno for sure but it might be a idea.
