jbear,

It is beautiful outside.
Got the studded tires on, so it's OK if we get a little snow now. Just not on 167 or 18.

Lots of lightening last night, but I heard no thunder.

Russ

My yard is too shady to garden anymore, so no pictures.

yes--no snow on the highways! lol!
As I was pulling into our driveway last night --getting home from work-- BIG flashes of lightening. scared the beejeebies out of me--cuz there WAS a large clap of thunder immediately. Plus--as someone else said--the 'hail' that was coming down at the same time? I was pretty sure the world was ending right then.

that hail was weird too. HUGE. it's still frozen to stuff outside right now. little alien hail balls.

I am gonna go try outside for a bit. it's cold and i have this nasty nasty cold, the air makes me cough really hard. But I am watching my feathered friends out there huddling on the no- snow areas, and they need some straw to stand on for their little feetsies. Burying my face in goat coat always makes for a good day too, and the girls would probably like some apple slices.

glad you got your studs on too.

The one year I did not put them on my jeep, is the one year I went flying off the road because I hit a patch of black ice. Luckily nothing happened except I was shaking so bad I could hardily continue on my way. Now I ALWAYS have studs on. Nov-april.

Joe the Jeep is too light to not have them.

Beautiful here ... blue skies, snow is sparkling like little diamonds sprinkled on everything. Not sure what the temp is now, but when DD's friends came to pick her up at noon, it was 27. Snow is powdery, though some areas of the yard are covered in what looks like tiny white styrofoam balls. Dogs are out playing, while hens are basking in the brooding lamp I set up in the run to keep their water thawed. I took a photo ... now if I can only find where I put my camera. When I drove to QFC last night, it was snowing hard here at 1,000', hailing like mad (so loud on my car) starting at about 800' feet down to 600' and snowing lightly in town at 470'. Only a dusting of snow on the roads there, but up here there were spun- out cars all on the sides of the road. I drove very carefully so we would not have both cars in the shop!

Robin, So sorry about all the family drama! Been there, done that, HATE IT!!! Dh's sister is getting married tomorrow. Hoping for a drama free day!

Jen,Where on the east coast are you from? My entire family is out there too. Well on my mom's side. Which is huge. She was one of 7. So yes, I have a ton of cousins and extended family out there, mostly in MA and CT, some in VT and ME too. Miss them awful. DH's family is out here, but has their drama too, so we are not all that close.

Ogress, hope your Beetle gets taken care of as quickly as possible with a fair deal! With the last snow we had at Thanksgiving week, our Beetle was vandalized when we left it at the bottom of our huge hill where we couldn't see it. They took a hammer to the front windshield and the back window. Due to the back window being shattered, they had to replace the entire convertable top. Total bill was over $4000. Thank goodness for insurance!

Love all the garden pics! Just went out to defrost waterers and offer scratch to the birdies. Trying to figure out how I can re-arrange them all! Would love some of Robin's Maran pullets, but just don't have room. I think I will be dumping all our older bantam cochins into the layer coop now that we have the new 3 we got at the show earlier this month and will use them and my lavender (self-blue) rooster for breeding. The new ones are due to come off quarantine after this weekend. With that and all the babies growing out in the basement, I need to do some serious shuffling of birds out there! Just in case I don't get back on because we will be doing wedding stuff all day tomorrow, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!

It is so beautiful out !

I just sent in my Sandhill order for some more RIW bloodlines, so I will have ALOT of babies soon, way way ALOT.
Probably like over 100 !! That is a whole lot of peeping going on. It is so hard when they are all different ages though...picking on each other and have to have all the broody pens ready in the next few weeks.
