I think he's the same guy that builds coops. I spoke to him on the phone once. Seems to know a bit about chickens... but didn't understand what I wanted for ducks

What kind of Marans are you looking for? I have BC Marans out of Bev Davis lines, and Blue Splash Wheaten Marans also out of Davis lines. I also have a couple of Cuckoos. Mine are all between 4 and 6 months old. But I'm only parting with my roos. No hens at this time.

Darn, no roos, I'm only looking for a girl or two. I'm looking for either BC or wheaten.

Dadburnit, I wish I had the money to get some Holderread ducks and geese right now. Dave has the Ashbrook line of Pilgrims that I want and I'd love to get some of his runners and Swedish Blues too.

If I can come up with some cash (and it's gonna be tough to do but if...) would you be willing to bring some back for me if I help you out on the gas too?

Oh btw, where ya looking to move west to? There's a place just down the road from me for sale with nice outbuildings and acreage.

God Bless,

I would second the recommendation for Lisa Cree's Marans. Her and Gary are great people, they take good care of their birds, they are serious breeders, and I believe they would take good care of ya.

Tell her Tailfeathers sent ya. Maybe she'll give ya a discount! :DLOL

God Bless,

Hello All;

I tried the web site for Cree FArms and could not get it to come up. Does anone know if there is another way to get to their web site?

So I need some advice from everyone here. So my hens have completely stopped laying, either that or I am going to find a very large nest somewhere. They are laying 1 egg a day which is odd for my group. There are 7 hens in total. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also I only feed my gals layer pellets and fruits and veggies from the house, is there anything else I should be giving them?

Thanks for the help

God Bless,

I would! (no need for gas help though) You'd need to call Dave and make sure he has them available for me to pick up.

He may have two two year old female black runners available. I'm debating on whether or not to get them or to take my three from his 2009 stock only. His older gals of course would be known "excellent" where his 2009 stock, which he saves from his last hatch, may or may not be ready to grade. I think it's 50$ each for the 2 year olds.

The person I was going to drive down there with ended up not being able to go, so right now I'm trying to figure out how to make the trip. I don't trust my current vehicles. I ended up renting a car last time I drove down to their place. I don't think I can afford that again unless I make the entire drive in one sitting... there and back. (did I mention I'm a duck addict? sometimes I wonder if I really am lucky to live within driving distance of Holderread... I am

Today I looked at a piece of property out in Brinnon. It was 4 acres, had an okay view of the hood canal, A SPRING FED POND, some seasonal creeks, and backed up against national forest. I wanted to love it (I did!) and wanted it to be the right place, but it wasn't. The property was long going from west to east not allowing me to get enough sun light for my other projects. The ducks and geese would have loved it. The couple that owned it were awesome and had done a lot of work on the property. But like my husband said, "It's someone else's dream, not yours."

But hey, the right property is out there! I'm basically looking in a radius around Poulsbo with Brinnon being at the farthest (Brinnon just doesn't have the topography that's conducive to what I need) I missed where you're from. Could you pm me property details?

I have the same problem trying to pull up the site for Cree Farms. I use IE Browser so that may have something to do with it. I have been able to get to the website by using a proxy browser like www.vtunnel.com . Try that and see if it works for you.

How long have your hens been laying? Are they molting? You might also try listening for the lay cackle. A few years ago I had a couple of RIR's that did not want to use the nesting boxes. One day I heard the lay cackle from the woods and ran over to where it came from. Sure enough, there was Rhoda cackling her head off over a nice bunch of about 8-10 eggs. It took me awhile but I finally got her to use the nesting boxes. Of course, then wouldn't you know it, a bobcat took her right out of the coop one evening.

God Bless,

I thought mine had stopped laying once, turns out they were eating their eggs! Caught them on a video camera because there was no evidence left behind otherwise. Anyway, I put more oyster shells in their morning mash, and after a few days this seemed to solve the problem.
