You are all killing me!!! I love ducks - had a pet Rouen when I was a kid named Nibbles. He was the best pet. Followed us all over, chased the dogs, walked on us and snuggled. I was young and didn't know Rouens are too heavy to fly so I kept tossing him off stuff to help him out. Poor guy!! He did his best and didn't seem to hold it against me.

One evening when I went to put him away for the night I couldn't find him. We all knocked on doors to see if anyone had seen a duck. I am sure they thought we were crazy. When we had given up and I was sitting despondently on the front porch I heard him quacking away (he was always chattering). There he was strutting down the street telling everyone about his adventure!
I just adore runner ducks.... sigh...I gotta find me a farm! I have crammed all the farm into my suburban lot I think it can hold. I am confident that we are the only folks in the neighborhood with straw in the driveway!

I keep telling the kids that we are the normal ones, everyone else is just confused, but I think they are on to me....

:idunno Oh well - at least it isn't boring here! Okay, enough tired rambling.

If you find those SQ Runners, please let me know after you get what you want. The coons took all my SQ Runners and I'd like to get some more one day. Just hasn't been a priority for me to look at the moment.

God Bless,

rainplace -- Oh, I'm on Bainbridge Island at the moment... looking to move more west

rainplace, I just wanted to welcome you. I am located just north of you in Indianola. But I was born and raised on the north end of Bainbridge Island. Welcome again.

Just letting everyone know my new website is up! Anyone looking for organic soy-free feed, I buy mine custom mixed by the ton and will now be selling individual bags for those who can't purchase large lots from the mill. Website link is below.

Suburbanchick, They are the crazy ones! No one in my neighborhood has any livestock. I walk my ducks to the park in the mornings and evenings. You should hear me... I'm a quacking and a honking right along with them. It's the only way I can keep them from breaking formation

I often wonder what my neighbors think of me.

Tailfeathers, I'm heading down to Oregon the week of the 24th to pick up a SQ trio of black runners and another pair of SQ black silkies. Around this time next year I should have some ducks for sale. My son wants to do a silky in 4h next year, but other than that, we're not really into showing, I just love the form of the runner duck.

Here's a few pictures of silkies, not mine, but what I'm hoping for.

This is a young drake from holderread's catalog and is where I bought my current pair and where I'm going for my new pair:

and here's a front view so you can see the feathering better. From Feathersite.com

oops, I got lost in ducks...

<waves hello to Cheryl> You are close! I've been looking for property in Indianola for a while, but it looks like I might have to go further out. I'm looking at some places in Brinnon today.

Sorry. I don't make the feed. It comes from a mill. I just offer bags of it for sale on my website for those who don't want to purchase by the ton from a custom mill. The only specific proportion I cared about was the protein being 20%.
