I don't know if this will be of any help, but I was at Fred Meyers a couple days ago and they still had Xmas rope lights on clearance, and some in the paint/elec clearance shelf too.

Slightly off subject, since they are for adding light, not heat, but...
I ordered solar powered LED lights (50 per strand) from target.com I'm having to wait for them, they are supposed to ship sometime in the next 2 weeks. Just to add extra light in my coops without blowing circuits in my ancient farm house.

I am going to order LEDs, in the daylight range of color and add themin my cop. I been meaning to do this for a while and I will probably get it down in the middle of summer lol. I was going to do it for my quail too.

I have been looking for a DIY heating seed starter but the rope a dope lights scare me a little. They are a fire hazard, even the hanging brooder lights scare me.

Wow what happened??? We are almost on the second page.

Well DD was a monster ALL say today, still has yet to go down for her nap. The kicker though... She climbed up my counter, and onto the top of the fridge to get to the bread.

Two of the pics were small enough to post on the chantecler club forum, but they are all to large to post on the canadian byc forum...

Just introducing myself here...

New to the sight, and new to chickens. (we don't even have them yet! hoping for spring time) But I wanted to start getting info and such early on.

You know what I love about him, Clover Leaf? He's one of the VERY FEW Chanteclers I ever see who are good quality. I wouldn't say this on the Chantecler thread because it may come off offensive, but there are so many people out there who claim to preserve the breed with such poor, hatchery quality examples and it just doesn't impress me. But him, ah, I like him!

Wow - I'll take your word for it, cuz I don't know SQUAT about them! LOL

Oh and while you're here Clover Leaf. . . Something interesting to think about that Chantecler.

I never considered it before for some reason, but there's a perfectly explainable reason why your boy there is "Crele."

Most white varieties have barring in them to help the white color retain its "white appearance" and boost it with a hint of gray/blue color as well as keep light pigmentation, as barring does. Now, on the other side, there's the Partridge Chantecler. . . If you take a look at Partridge males, they look quite identical to Black Breasted Red (duckwing) males.

Put the two together, and have you got? Barred Partridge birds. Which in turn look very similar to Crele, but in fact are not. Crele is a barred duckwing.

So what you have there you can actually continue simply by crossing to Partridge Chanteclers, get a 50/50 in barring, and continue on from there with the barred Partridge birds. Get a new color variety going.

But, still, it is not actually "crele" by definition. Your boy there is a barred Partridge.

You really should get him paired up with some good Partridge girls. . .
