The barn is really nice, but I'd only use it for my Bachelors. I love the thought of each male or each couple males getting their own nice little cozy "stall," but I am in no way a fan of breeding pens, runs, etc. Except if the run is really big and filled with greens. (Like my Polish area)

Time Out for Mr Bubba big britches who has decided to stalk and jump at me.
So, he has been put in the large dog kennel and forced to be nice.
He is a beautiful bird, but so jealouse !

If he keeps it up, he will be replaced !
Tried to get a good pic but he kept pacing...
Got to go to the store, we have decided to do lasagna, we have Tinkyada rice lasagna noodles which you layer in the pan without cooking first !
It is so easy, just layer the sauce/chees/ricotta/noodles, and when ready to eat, bake until bubbly.
Cool !
Illia you have to make this lasagna !!

One of my new layers just gave me a pink egg. Who would lay a pink egg? It is tiny. My guss is one of the EE's. The other choices would be the Buff Orpingtons, or the SLW's, though the latter have not done the squat thing yet, and the only EE squatting is the chipmunk colored black bearded one with the pea comb. I was hoping for blue or green from her.

If you don't have breeding pens and runs what do you have the rest of your breeders in?

Well, I have a "breeding pen" but what I mean are individual runs/pens for each pairing to go in and actually live in for more than a day. My breeding pen is for pairings, which usually last a day at the most, then the two are put back in their places again.

Chickielady - Already made it before. We have a lot of Tinkyada pasta, and YOU need to make some with homemade Cottage Cheese straight from a goat!

I'm in the Tacoma area and my daughter is wanting to get into 4H poultry. We are setting up with 4H but now she needs some show chickens. We told her she had to have bantys because we also have standard size laying hens in a suburban yard and two flocks of standards would be too much. We found a very nice person in Gig Harbor that is going to hatch us out some Mottled Cochins. Is there anyone else in the area that breeds Cochin Bantams? If she wants to have project chickens she will need extra genes so we are looking around but not finding much. She has an incubator if anyone has eggs and a great brooder that used to be a reptile cage so it works really well for chicks. Any help would be appreciated.
