My son and nephew got a firewood permit for the Wenatchee National Forest. There is access off of Hwy 410, just before Greenwater. I believe that you can get the permit here in Enumclaw. The office is just east of Safeway and McDonalds.

The problem with getting firewood on this side of the hills is that it is almost always very wet. The Wenatchee NF is a massive area of public lands. With a permit you could access forest in Eastern Washington. That would give you much dryer wood. I don't know of anything closer to Bonney Lake, where you could harvest wood.

that is pretty much where we go..

It is wet, but cures up fine.. at least ours does as it is under a shelter, and it usually dries for a season I guess.. so it takes a while.

JB (i meant you! not CL!) duh..

Don't know how they would get along with yer others but We just got 3 RIR BANTAMS and just love em. they are so friendly. I talked to a breeder and he told me O yeah if you want them to move ya just about have to kick em out of the way. They are just starting to lay and they are producing some nice eggs for little girls. We got ours at the show in Chehalis but since I found out I know a guy who breeds and said he will give more. I may get into them more.
Well I may be about to get taken out for the night. It is windy and the lights just flickered.

I hope you do. I am still hoping to get some of those ladies, or eggs. Do you hatch them? Are you going to the Monroe Digs? Maybe then?

Our house was built a zero clearance fireplace. It was designed to burn presto logs in it. The original owner put in a pellet stove. It was great except for the fact that it would keep burning even when it was uncomfortably warm in the rooms. We should have installed a thermostat to control it better. Instead we bought and installed a gas fireplace in the original fireplace hole. It worked great for many years. We did have to replace the burner at one point, and it now needs another burner. It keeps burning out the burner pans for some reason. But a few years ago I found that it was just to expensive to use gas to heat. The price for natural gas is very high in Enumclaw. The gas is controlled by the city. It is a little hard to handle 350 a month for gas, water, and garbage. And with the electricity being another 130.00 a month. I am not sure why. Most of the time it's just me and I am good at turning out lights. I think that the only thing I could do now is unplug more things around the house. But somethings are a pain when you have to wait for everything to reset before I can use it again.

We installed a force air system 2.5 years ago, and we bought the best that Washington Energy offered. The house was originally built with the Cadet space heaters. ( and yes the in wall Cadet heaters were the one recalled.) I really thought that the house would be warmer with the heat pump and furnace, but I am almost always cold. I am very disappointed in the system. We had a heat pump in the house in Camas, and it kept twice as much house warmer than this house I am in now. So now I want a small wood stove.

It's kind of sad, because we have a wood stove out in the shed. We bought shortly after we got married. It doesn't meet EPA requirements, and it's bigger than I want or need in this house.

I only have 3 right now and no ROO so I am sorry but I can't help ya. However I do know 3 breeders that are in my local area and might be able to put ya in touch with one of them. I need to build another pen so I can seperate the RIR B from my OEGB. Once I get that done I will be getting a RIRB roo and a few more hens.

We love our wood stove. Its our only source of heat. I think the cockatiel and aussie sheppherd like it the most since they get to enjoy it but don't do any of the work gettin the wood.

Oggress. Before you get a wood stove go here http://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewforum/2/
Tell
them what shape your roof is. how high up your pipe has to go to reach the top. where the stove will sit in relation to your roof slant.
Let them know about your extreme high winds.
I have seen them help many in your same situation and they have gone on to use their stove successfully.

Also, for you or anyone else looking for a great place to buy a stove at that same forum I have read many posts from people who have bought from here http://www.overstockstoves.com/index.html
The
top two stoves on right plus the second from the top on left all three have got great reviews.
