I saved the link as I think the stove is at least a year or two away. We had an old Lopi growing up, I loved it. We would cook a pot-roast on the top.

JB - I bought a new townhome with some of those Cadet heaters January 94, it was a few years before the recall. I was sitting at my kitchen table shortly after I moved in and smelled smoke. The fire alarm started blaring and I saw flames shooting out of the thing! It was on the wall right next to where I was sitting. Only I can't blame Cadet. Stupid Quadrant Homes and their lousy inspections.... they spray-coated the thing with spackle or whatever the crud is they put over sheet-rock to texture it and cover the tape seems. They did it to all of them! They just pulled the face plates off and sprayed away! Made we wonder about the quality of the rest of the place. Did they partially slice through the electrical wiring while installing the sheet rock around the electrical outlets? Quadrant replaced the one that burned and cleaned off the other two. They also had to clean the carpet and paint the wall. I sold the place a few years later, and when the sale was pending, the recall came out. I had to replace them all.

We have plenty of firewood .... we cut down a bunch of alder to clear for a garden, and this winter we had 2 big trees come down in the wind, a cedar and a doug fir. They came down next to each other and crushed the chain-link fence, smashed the gate, and bent a few poles. I found someone to repair the fence for me in exchange for one of the trees. I also found an old woodpile in our woods, have no clue who put it there or how old it is. Supposedly, this land was never developed, although the flat part of our yard in the old dump (gravel) road that went to the nearby landfill when it was still in use, and our basement is in 2 of the several "borrow pits" that were dug for making that old road. In the steeper parts of the woods, I've found an ancient washing machine, a car door, a huge, rusty cable.... afraid of what else may have been dumped on our property! I was thinking the worst when the dog came with a thigh bone, I screamed and she ran off and returned with a deer skull, whew!
