It's OK. From the way the ad reads you are ONLY getting the box. That is basically 4 sides no top no bottom no frames no inner cover no foundation. And then it sounds like you have to assemble. I can buy the same for about $12 locally already assembled. and they are high quality.

ahh ok... care to help me out with a wee little box? I'd love to try out a little bee thing.

Me too. I think I want some bees, even if they scare me a bit. lol I thought that the little bugs were not cheap to keep, and of course I want some honey for putting up with them.

Let me know if no one has helped you out yet on how to post photos. I am just starting to read through many pages.....so if I do not see a how to for you....at the end of all of this reading I will try to help you. I do believe there is a "how to" some place, but adding photos is rather confusing....easy once it is figured out though.

So, shamo Cock over marans so the offspring will inherit HIS egg size and color...but a BCMarans Cock over the shamo hen will give you a very large darker (than a shamo) egg...pullet young should show type, Cockerals may take 1 to 1 1/2 years to show true color and type (fully fill out)....whay not a Shamo X Cornish ?

Shamo x Cornish will just make an Asil looking bird.

Also, it doesn't take that long to show true color, and it certainly doesn't take that long in a cross, considering Marans only take 6-8 months.

And, I don't think it makes any difference in cock vs hen on who's who with the breeds. I've had it both ways when outcrossing Marans before and both ways had the same egg color variation (which, I'm not breeding for anyway) and both had the same body type variation.

Illia: I want you to know how amazing it is to read the information you put on here. I know this much about chickens: There are boys and there are girls. Girls lay eggs. Boys crow. That's it.

I am still - so learning. You are a wizard and a wealth of information and I love to read/hear you and CL chatter back and forth about this and that. I find it amazingly interesting. Keep up the good posts - love 'em.

Hello fellow Washingtonians! My name is Brooke, and I love in Goldendale (about 15 minutes from Oregon, and South of Yakima). I am new to raising chickens, even though my mom has raised them forever. We just got a brand new coop today from some wonderful people in Central Oregon that build them during the winter as a hobby, and they were kind enough to throw in 5 (!!) 3-4 month old chickens they had. Apparently some friends of theirs had given them mystery eggs to hatch, so we are not sure what they are, or even if they are girls or boys. It was getting dark when we picked everything up, so tomorrow I hope to get a lot better look at them.
I'm sure I will be asking lots and lots of questions, so please be patient with me
