YEAH!!!! When are you coming up here woman?!?!!?!? Or maybe we can meet down south next week after the 15th? I have to coordinate with Cowgirlgrace to pick up my blue/black BLRW due to hatch on the 15th plus some Barnies!

AND I am soooooo excited ALL over again!!!! One of my bantam cochin pairs I have set up left me a BEEEEE-U-Ti-ful little egg today!!! This one is from my gorgeous blue pullet. And I got another Orp egg today. And I cracked open one of the other Orp eggs and it was most definently fertile! A big ol' donut shaped blastocyst! So we used the first two Orp eggs for eating and I put today's and the cochin egg aside and will start another batch cooking when I have enough eggs saved up. No only if my Lav Am would lay for me! I'm also going to start collecting Olive-Egger eggs too for the next batch for the bator.

CL & CR,
You are both on the list, just not the first page of 50.

Last night I looked back over 4 pages, lots of members that no longer post. Kind of sad to see their names, but I guess change is life. It would be interesting if it could be filtered by active members.

I think it was nifty that posted a couple years ago that those members from Washington like to talk a lot.

There was someone who posted on this thread that people from Washington were "odd"

Russ- haven't been able to disprove it yet.

CL, have a fantastic time at your Birthday Party today! Glad you don't have RA... Illia, sorry that your girl didn't survive the attack after all. Sure sounds like she had given her best to get away, but the damage had been done. Must be nice to not have had rain at your place for awhile so you could get so much done.

So, I have some good news and I have some good news - First - after 2 years of unplanned "retirement", our lawsuit with the state has settled and my husband has been offered a new job. He had been a liquor store manager for over 27 years with glowing reviews, then got a district manager who decided he had it out for DH, and made life miserable for him until he forced him out of his job. That was 2 years ago, just as my daughter was graduating from high school and getting ready to start college. So after a lot of negotiating between the state and our fantastic attorneys, the state has offered DH a new full time job with benefits and seniority reinstated. Unfortunately, they won't give him another store locally, (he used to work 5 minutes from home). They are putting him in the distribution warehouse in Seattle and at 63, he'll have to learn to drive a forklift and be doing a lot of heavy work. DH is in great shape though, even 2 months after knee replacement surgery. He just wants to work another 3 years, until our daughter graduates from college and then we can PLAN for retirement instead of having it thrust upon us.

So, the other good news is, since he's returning to work in the next couple of months, that he and his buddy decided to start on my coop so they can get it finished before he starts work again! After looking at all the fantastically well thought out coops we've decided to go with a playhouse styled coop. I have those plans but will need to make some modifications as some things just don't make any sense to me. Why would you want the clean out door on one end of an 8' long coop? Seems a looooong way to reach. Just little things. Hope the guys can follow my changes. So I'm looking at probably a 4X8' coop with an 8 -10' covered pen. Fingers crossed all goes well. They plan to start shopping and building on Tuesday. I asked if they could finish by mid-march. I still have some details to work out, but as soon as they start I'll be posting pics of the progress.

It's a little gloomy out today, but so far it's clear I guess. I'm just craving sun!
Happy Saturday everyone -

on your DH getting a job back with seniority. Too bad he has a commute.
Hope his forced retirement did not affect how they will calculate his retirement benifits.
Wish my DH likes to build coops too. I am on my own on the coop build. Got a 4 X 4 duckingham palace to build!! Got all the wood cut into the right size yesterday by HD (home depot) not DH

Will attempt to assemble it today and paint it tomorrow. Rian rain go away...

I'm happy for you on both counts. Too bad about the warehouse, but maybe an opening closer to home will open up at some point. Eight feet would require a really long rake to clean out.

Quote:
I'm in the process of building a 4x8 coop myself. And Ive decided to have the people door along the 8' side. Don't know about you, but I dont own any 8' long rakes. lol So my people door will be about 4' long, that way I can clean the coop out more easily, this should also make it much easier to clean off the poop bored, under the roosts. At least that is the goal...

Congrats on your DH's reinstatement! Even if he is having to commute.
