Gawd, in california they stuck a modular in sideway in the vacant lot next door to us (we should have bought the pie shaped lot!!!) and they back door ended up right next to our patio & koi pond.
We had a waterfall, and it was planted so lovely..then a few famalies moved in and had several toddlers and the woman decided to be a stay at home mom and take in day care..so we ended up with kids SCREAMING and running up and down the fence and peeking at us and fighting as the swindset was in the backyard right next to my brand new art studio (a seperate building)

We could hear them doing the wild thing..we could hear them screaming at their kids, we could hear their kids crying we could hear their toilet flush!!!!!!!!!!!
Humans were never meant to live that way..I felt so ill that the very breathe I just inhaled came right out of their lungs....arrrgh!!
A minibarn on the side of the hill overlooking the Willapa, surrounded by wildness is for me !

Thank goodness Rain tree is far away from my house...but it is on the way to Holderreads Farm

No wonder my DH always drives the smallest car when we go to Oregon. OMG we drove 6 hrs to Salem and beyond to get my 2 blue ducks last month. He is a sweet guy.

Winds are picking up here more now than earliey. And I am watching a near 100" fir tree bend sideways, not even half way to the top... I also worry about these awfull hawthorn trees here on my property...

I hate them, and wish the county would take them out already... They were scheduled to be taken down last summer, but were never touched... Tipical chainsaws will only make it maby make it 1/2 way through, before you have to sharpen the chain... Hard, heavy, spindly, and brittle... Theymake me nervous.

Our power keeps flickering, but everything is on battery backup, so I'm not overly worried about that. Though I should turn the furnace up above 55* so we can stay warm if it does go out...

Man, this wind is supposed to be all night, and I have about $300. worth of eggs (over 50) in my sportsman....I and 15 brand new chicks under red light...I will have ta stay up all night watching the power and ready to start the generator....

When is winter ever going to STOP????
Glad I have not plasticed my green house yet!!

I'm on the tippy top of a hill too.
The anti gravity water is what makes us washintonians so special.

And like the Lousiana grave yards, all my garden beds are above ground...preferably above flood level...
Berries and all.....until the roots reach the water level, I am a happy camper.

I also bribe my berries with star bucks coffee grounds and worm castings.
I have a worm bin that will digest a watermelon whole.

Speaking of waterlogged ground. Raspberries are very prone to root rot. They mostly need a very organic, well draining soil. When I planted mine I dug a large trench and filled it in with mostly compost. There are some varieties that are more resistant.

When I first read your post, I thought you meant that Raintree refused to talk to you. I was going to take the blame. They might have stopped talking to customers after I called and asked: If I plant 3 types of raspberries close together will they cross pollinate and make mutant raspberries?

ETA- I usually get a lot of suckering off the raspberries in the spring. If anyone wants let me know. I'll not toss them in the yard waste. I have Prelude, Red Summit and Golden Summit.
