CR what are the #14s for ? Are ya gonna incubate ???

Illia:: Persimmons when unripe are very astringent and dry your mouth out bad..but when ripe they taste alot like honey, a slight fruity honey..just fabulous!!
They must ripen, and they usually hang on the tree and do not ripen until a freeze.
Welcome more newbies !!!

Clarence is a Lemon Blue Cochin raised by RFF, he has 2 ladies, a LB and a splash, Abigail and Mildred.
They are huge birds, gentle and quiet.

Mildred.these two photos RFF took and I am using hope it is OK with her since I bought these birds from her.
They breed lemon blue, buff, and splash.

Cheryl:: I will dig some raspberries for you.
Find a feed tub or something to plant them in so you can always take them with you if you move and they will not send suckers everywhere...and YES Hazelnuts grow almost exclusively here.
Also called Filberts, they are OUR nut tree, and hate heat.
I will have Dad look for more hazelnut trees coming up in his yard too!

Oh they are heavenly! imagine taking a tomato, combining it with a nectarine, and then add a pumpkiny finish. It's hard to explain the taste but it is my favorite fruit. They tend to do pretty well in western washington, at least the Fuji dwarf persimmon. The only problem is the window of time you have to eat them all. (not really a problem) when they're ripe you have about 2 weeks tops and they tend to ripen all at once. about 5 years of fruiting one tree will give you more than you can handle of course there is always persimmon jam!

That sounds interesting and good. Is this something I could grow in a large container? Like on the deck?

Maybe but it would have to be a large pot one of those that are the size of a Sofa. don't plan on moving a full grown one. a semi-dwarf still grows to be 14' across at it's largest.

Kazander I love the name of your birds: Pooferton and Rupert Roger !

What can we say? its a gift. but really our "fun flock" is mostly a collection of chickies that someone had to leave behind for one reason or another

. So we found ourselves being called upon to provide these little ones a new home, and thats where we decided to get back into the thick of it. Hence the quick chicken explosion here at Kazander Farms. Where we produce nothing much of note except quality ...compost.

but really who one here doesn't? Were waiting until we have at least 30 chickens old enough before we call down the NPIP folks. and then the egg handlers license.

Yes i know its a sickness.

Well I think its time to go shopping for MORE chickens. I only have 13 and everybody knowns THAT'S an unlucky number . I think it will be chicks from Monore. I'm going to break down and finally get two EE's, a couple of Black Australorps, and a Austra white

Anybody have a Austra white or know much about them?? I know the are from a Black Australorp Roo and a White leghorn hen. They lay a white egg ( DON'T tell the guy from down south that wears a handkerchief over his face. he will be jealous and he"ll WANT one )
