Oh, and I have seen Hemlock down that way, so I will have to go all over each time I move the fence, and remove the hemlock before the goats can find enough to eat.
That scares me as it is all died back right now..and if I fence goats in, hemlock could pop right up where it was all dead (winter) before.
We have queen ann's lace and cow parsnip also, so I better check out all these plants that could harm or kill the goats.
OK, the weather dude says that yet another wonderful storm comes our way this evening...once again full of T and L and maybe snow in higher elevations...bummer.

Thought the woodchuck saw his shadow,..and so we get 6 weeks of T&L storms and Tornadoes and monsoons...guess they call the tornadoes cyclones out there in the Pacific O.
I continue my hot wire goat study.

Hey, all you incubator crazies::
I want to know your humidity levels for best proformence.
Like Day 1-17 keep at 42-48% and day 18 lockdown and raise to no more than 55%.

So what do they rest of you do ?

I FINALLY caught up on everything! I have had my nose in a good book the past few days, plus just been busy and not getting a lot of computer time--which is good right? lol!
I love the idea of the BYC sharing of the canning skills/garden goodies, etc. that sounds like fun. I have always wanted to try making cider. I am able to can peaches and dilly beans.. and not much else

Planted Maestro peas and spinach and my favorite mixed salad greens this last weekend..
had bad luck with my hatch--time of year? Skill? I dunno... but I have one MFC chick and two Serama's. Set 15 more eggs last Sunday too....

The duck pairing in the hutches is not happening~the neighbors would probably be hunting us down in the night. Those call girls are LOUD. Will have to figure something else out!

I agree on not staking out the goaties--my two are dingey and get tangled up in 4 seconds flat.

In my LG I did 30-35% first 17 days and then aimed for 55-60% for lockdown.

Still learning on the Brinsea!

No, I don't have the pump. I bought two different sets of reptile tank thermometers/hygrometers at Pet Smart for the LG, and I'm using the hygrometers in the Brinsea.

These are the ones I got:

I kept one channel full of water as recommended and it stayed pretty steady between 35-40%. But out of 7 eggs in there, only one was developing on day 10 (last night). So I stuck the one under a broody silkie this morning and shut the bator down until I collect more eggs.

I would also like to help with the co-op canning etc. and since I am sooo far away and know nothing about canning I think I could force myself to be the taste testeer.
