Nyrial. I've been to Carnation and looked at those a couple weeks ago. You could probably fit 3 to 4 in a pick up easy and maybe more depending on how well you packed them. I just couldn't figure out a use for them to justify getting them. Probably do a bit of carpentry and make them into feed storage.

What was your ideas?

I was going to butt a couple of them up together and use them for banty coops, raised on 4X4s. Or tear them down and use the wood at least. Do you remember roughly how big the base was? They look about 3 foot at least, or is the picture misleading?

My truck problem is that I have a Dakota, so the bed is a good bit smaller

I wonder if I could fit 2 though.. It is a "long" bed.

If any wants them I could see if we could move the cartons farther north to Enumclaw. I know it's not much, but is still a further 30 miles north. I don't know why I think I needed this many more egg cartons. I have been using the same 2 egg cartons every since the hens started laying.

There are these shipping crates on craigs list for $50-$100. Would make a great coop or for storage. I will try to post the link. I screwed up the first time.

How far south? Where is Ethel, anyway? Maybe something else on craigslist will catch my eye down south.

Today I went to Paulsbo and got some free used pressure treated 4 x 4s and 2 x 6s. Almost have what I need to build that 8 x 12 coop addition for breeding pens and storage.

I already gave the suggestion of more chickens to use up the egg cartons. DH was not excited about that. The last two chicks I brought home I had to smuggle to the coop under my jacket. DH still thinks I just have 8 chicks in the small coop. That is when he said "No more!" I think the last time I looked there were 25 ....... but, who is counting? There are two cute little bard rocks down at the feed store -- just starting to get the bars on their feathers.

I thought about posting this in design and construction, but not everyone there knows the type of weather we deal with in the winter. As much as I thought out my coop, I failed to take into account that I need to add a shelter over part of my run. Obviously I need something that sheds rain, but I don't want it to be too tall. The tallest part of my run.. the part attached to the coop, is about 6ish (I use that measurement loosely) feet.

How much of a slope would I be looking at needing?
