That is a great idea. I read somewhere that rcks do hold heat longer that just air. It will just be more crud to clean after the hatch.
Just for fun. Maybe you can fill easter eggs with rocks or sand, and stagger it around the bator.
It might be better if just in case the power goes out, cos the easter eggs can spread the heat.
It'll be a good kids project. Doesn't hurt.
If you don't have a turner, water bottles filled with 110* water also helps hold the heat in without disturbing the incubator.
I tried the water bottles in my home made hatcher, and put little rocks in the water troth.
Temp is steady so far & I am going to put my duckie egg in it next week.
I am using a fish tank heater hooked on to a 45 W light bulb and a 6 inch fan to provide the heat.
Hope the thing holds up. Lock down is next week.
