OK, checking in by orders of Chicky! Catching up is about all I have time for. Been trying to read posts in the evening so there are not so many in the AM but had to read through around 30 posts just now. You guys are chatty. Not much to report. Niece is still here with the new babe. She's leaving on Sunday. Frustrated I'm not getting anything done with this weather. Maybe get out today and finish up pruning a clients roses, they are already leafing out! Then got to get the mowers ready to go for the season. UGH! not looking forward to mowing.

Chicky, When is your chick order due from Sand Hill? Would I be able to pick up the ones you are hatching at the same time as your order coming in?

JB, just curious about your Nasties. When they bite are they playing or are they really that nasty? Never really quite enjoyed the temperament of yappy ankle biters. Not talking about yours but I think the biggest problem with truley mean yappy little dogs is the owners not disciplining. I've been around incessantly yappy dogs and I have never understood why the owners never make them shut up. So annoying. And if they happened to bite the wrong ankle I can see them growing wings. People complain about Rottweilers and Pits and true, they have their size against them but a biting Pit and little ankle biting dogs have the exact same temperament and worse sometimes, they are just too small to actually maul someone. Discipline and socializing is really important.

I have had yet another profound Idea for an incubator this time:

Find one of these or build one, and then you can put your hands in the gloves and mess around with stuff in there without disturbing temps & humidity...bet CR has one !!!!!!!!!!

Garce good to see you!!
I wanted to ask you how noisy is your sportsman ?
My 1500 is deafening..almost, it is the fan like a jet engine & turner motor rumbles..just asking.
We got to listening to the 60s & 70s tunes last night, OLD Beatles, Stones, Jefferson Airplane & the Doors..and ROCKED OUT!!!
THAT is egg-zactly what I need to exercise !
I was making dinner and dancing !

ALSO:: Got 1 second generation OE chick OUT this morning, 2 visable pips of my blue Ameraucana, and so far that is all/
Keeping fingers crossed !!

We thought we were so cool! Yikes to that vid. In 20 years, we'll think the same about what's happenin now.

Monstrous shoulder pads

When I was a young teen, we wore SUPER BELLS, and had to have one of dad's dress shirts, arms rolled up, and untucked.
I cannot imagine wearing those big shirts now..then there was tie dye and such..I love the 60s & 70s, we had (have) the BEST BANDS!!!

Well yes I do. Keep in mind they are just thin sheet metal and probably wouldn't hold temp. But ya could take something insulated LIKE AN OLD FRIDGE and install the gloves. You could even put gloves on more than one side or level.

Thanks guys! You know my biggest worry is how he will treat our son after this. He tends to take his anger and resentment towards me out on our son. I wouldn't be even doing this except he hasn't paid his half of things in 2 years, and I don't feel it is right for my DH to foot the entire bill for someone else's child. He has his own that he pays child support for. I guess it's just thing I have about once a parent you do what you have to to support them as much as you can. That was all I asked and he came at me with threats and said mean things about me and hurtful things to our son. Imagine trying to console a 15 year old boy who is crying uncontrolably. My boy doesn't cry unless he is truly hurting, so it was heart breaking on a few occasions.

So, on a much brighter note, I am getting some chicks tomorrow (after court), and I am sooo excited. Just hatchery babies, but I'm cool with that. I got my brooder all set up and ready to go. Can't wait to have a few fuzzy butts in the house!

I keep reading about all of your gardening activities, and I am sad that I won't be growing anything this year

, except maybe lettuce in my containers. I am going to leave my garden fallow this year, and hopefully sometime this year we can get some of the very tall trees that are blocking the sun from the garden area taken down so I can plant next year.

I am going to enjoy a quiet day at home while the kids are in school.

OR glue styrofoam to the outside which would stabilize.
Good idear huh ?

Chicky, My Sportsman is pretty quiet. Occasionally it makes a little bit of a rattle sound but I think it's the racks vibrating. Usually it just has a low hum.

There is a video on youtube of a lady helping hatch a double yolk. You can have twins but usually one dies as there is only one air sack. She successfully hatched twins but had to find where the beak of the second one was to open up a hole to give it some air after the first one pipped. And I think quite frequently one will die early on but it is possible. Sorry, don't have a link to the video.

Grace, my Sandhill order is supposed to arrive sometime in May.
I have been toying with the idea of canceling & get my money back..I am so not very please with their birds or how they care for them.
I think they must just have a dumpy place where birds can run loose if the owls & skunks are killung these "precious heritage breeds"
The dellies are my 1500...just turned them in their turnere last night so they do not just go back N forth in the same spot, gave them a half turn.
So far this morning, no W&BW pips, but got several OEs and my Blue Ams.
Guess we are going to shoot for the 10th to drive out to Illia's..and maybe pick up a BW Marans Cock from her to get to Zgoatlady..not sure about that yet...CR:
I have 2 BLUE Copper marans X Blue Am crosses (OEs) that will need to go..and a mess more hatching, and several cuckoo marans.
Also a mess more hatching.
I took several pics of MrMOT this morning & will post in a few, and then we have to leave to go deliver 3 Doeling Rabbits to a buyer in Montesano...get rabbit feed & shavings, and drive home.
So hopefully there will be W&BW Ameraucana pips when we get back.

They say fashions come around again, I sure hope the 80's never come back! I think that photo is from '86. As we were waiting for the wedding to start, the bridal party was taking bets on how many months it would last - I think they made it 8 years, far longer than any of the bets.

OH MY!!!!!!! I do NOT want the '80's apparel to ever come back. Okay, I think I need to sit down now. My kids tell me they are listening to the "oldies"....yep...it was the 80's station. The kids showed me, on You tube, some kid break dancing. DSs were going on and on about how cool it was....I tell them that MY era came up with this...not theirs. DSs comments..."Wow". "You are old". Why did I have kids, again? Can someone remind me? Was it for them to remind me how old I am on a regular basis? Monsters... shoulda' knocked them in the head as pups. (that is what my dad always told me). (I would never-ever hurt a puppy)

I know just how you feel! I get reminded all the time. But I am lucky that my oldest DS like the "oldies". He listens to alot of the stuff I used to listen to in the eighties, so it makes it easy to pick music we both like in the car. He has very eclectic taste in music. He likes anything from Rihanna to some pretty heavy metal, to classic rock. But I do hate to be reminded of how "old" I am, as he likes to do as much as he can. Funny thing is that I can remember almost like it was yesterday, what it was like being his age (almost 16). I am with you on the whole 80's apparel, except the skinny jeans or leggings with boot are ok with me. The shoulder pads can stay gone and the big hair too!
