I'm guessing it's built off a vw bug engine? Am I right?? What are you running? Did you construct the chassis and roll cage yourself? That's some great work you did there

hahah sorry freaked out a bit

I built a baja bug this last year.

Do you want some extra VW parts. I don't know what we stilll have, but I can ask DH this weekend and let you know what we have. We traded our '73 bug for a Volvo station wagon. It was a good trade for us.

Let me know what you have! I'd probably love them !

Yup VW 1641 that I rebuilt, 3 rib bus trans, early bug front beam (axle). I built the entire frame from 20' sticks of tube. No pattern no design just started building to suit our needs. Here is the best pic I have left of what we started with until I nosed it into the sand and broke the rear suspension. That is when DW said you need to build us a rail. It took me 6 weeks start to finish.

Sweet! I'm on stock engine and tranny but have a beastly 6 rib to put in when I have time! WOW You did an amazing job from scratch!

It look's so professional. I like the before buggy too

A little too pretty for me though, I'd have that paint job tore up in a second

X 10 DW's nephew had a face to face with a cat this winter. Had his dog not gone down the trail right ahead the cat would have got him. As it turned out the dog ran by and the cat tried to pounce but missed the dog. Lucky he had a rifle with and was able to take care of business. Otherwise him and or the dog would have been dinner.

And NEVER count on being able to see a cat if it is there. They are called the grey ghost for a reason!!!! They can be watching you. I can tell you from one incedent I had that if a cat is watching you it may very well make yer hairy neck have a bad hair day !

Over the years and my many experiences....you just never see them. I was out riding a horse one day and the horse refused to any further up the trail. I thought the horse was just being a bit barn sour and being a brat....but somehow because of the way the horse was acting, then all of a sudden I got a weird "something is watching me" feeling, I went ahead and turned around. Later that week went back up this particular canyon. Horse went fine, but at a certain spot got a bit snorty. There were cat tracks. Still makes the hair on the back of my neck go up.

Same sorta thing happened to me several years ago, I was riding in a hay field in May, so the hay was pretty tall. Seasoned trail horse completely freaked out, dumped me in the field, and raced all the way back to her stall in a lather and shaking. Luckily there were others riding with me, because the fall ended in a broken shoulder. They found the cat tracks the next day. If I had been by myself, I would've likely been cougar bait.

They wouldn't tell me how close the tracks were to where this all happened...

I would never go up against a cougar with a BB

I was just saying we do our little urban protection with the BB. I've been near one when I was up hunting theyyyy scaryy!

House cats are scary enough for me as it is

Okay, I did not mean to sound condescending. But I have heard so may people say things that were just so crazy off the wall (not on here necessarily). But a person that does not know anything about cougars may have thought that this might work cuz it is a "gun"....well, it works for the neighbor dog and the local cats (I have used it for both).....but for 100# cats it will not work.

I am glad you are not mad at me. I live in cougar country too and have many stories I could tell you. The house I grew up in...over in Twisp....had a colt killed up on the hill just behind the house. When the then owner went to look for the colt it walked around the corner and walked into the momma cat (face-to-face). She had kittens chewing on the horse. This was years ago. If anyone saw the cougar that used to hang in the Merc store over in Winthrop (years ago)....this was the cat.

I have walked into some of the upper inland lakes only to walk out and see cat tracks inside of my foot prints, following me up the trail.

A friend was out deer hunting....a buddy of his watched from across the valley as a cat was stalking him. Ended up having to shoot (not sure at the cat or just in the air) to chase the cat off his buddy's track.

Over in Twisp we always knew when there was a cat around the house because all the deer would disappear - as they would move out of the canyon to elsewhere. As soon as the cat had moved on....the deer came back.

I didn't think you were condescending at all. There are a lot of dumb people out there and that was a fair warning

Yes it is a very good idea IMO but I hate to burst yer bubble. The chance of finding a cheep blast cabinet that is still useable for this is like about as good as finding one of Imps duckagators in green lake. But nonworking fridges are a dime a dozen. Speaking of for any body wanting to make a bator like the awesome one that broody made. You can also look for RV fridges. They are a little bigger than hers but not huge. Then add CL's glove idea ....

Thinking about it... I do have that non-working mini-fridge downstairs. Wondering how much trouble I could get into with an incubator that size...

You can still prune it, you just might not got any buds this year. My grampa was a rose fanatic and he said when you have to do a drastic prune, to take off anything that is fatter than the average mans pinky finger. Hope this helps. Looking at the size of your monster, you may want to take your main canes down to the height that you want and then go with the pinky trim. Always cut on an angle.(if you didn't know)
smile.png

If I was to cut everything fatter than a mans pinky, I would have to cut it to the ground... This rose is huge, stands a little over 9 feet, and most stalks are 1-2" aprox, in diameter... There are suckers that shoot strait up that are no thicker than a pinky...

Holy cow that is a monster!!! Is it a climber or bush type? I'd probably still take back all the old canes to a desired height, cut out any old dead wood and then just manage the new growth over the next few seasons. I'd also probably use a pruning sealant as those will be some massive cuts! Have fun!

Gonna use a chain saw?

Watch out... I just wanted 8-10 chooks and now I have a mini fridge that I think will hold up to 164 eggs. Oh what fun one can have!
