We live next door to an 8000 acre tree farm that we get passes every year to trail ride on. There are all sorts of wildlife out there including sitings of cougars, coyotes, Bobcats and black Bears. When I am riding and the horse stops and snorts and refuses to continue on I have 100% trust in their judgment. Not going to take any chances. I just turn around and head back the other way.

On the round egg, I just put them in the turner one end up. Within a few days you can candle them and you will be able to see which end the air sack is in. Then you can put the correct side up.

It's obvious why he's your EX husband.

X3-Wishing you every success.

Thanks guys! You know my biggest worry is how he will treat our son after this. He tends to take his anger and resentment towards me out on our son. I wouldn't be even doing this except he hasn't paid his half of things in 2 years, and I don't feel it is right for my DH to foot the entire bill for someone else's child. He has his own that he pays child support for. I guess it's just thing I have about once a parent you do what you have to to support them as much as you can. That was all I asked and he came at me with threats and said mean things about me and hurtful things to our son. Imagine trying to console a 15 year old boy who is crying uncontrolably. My boy doesn't cry unless he is truly hurting, so it was heart breaking on a few occasions.

So, on a much brighter note, I am getting some chicks tomorrow (after court), and I am sooo excited. Just hatchery babies, but I'm cool with that. I got my brooder all set up and ready to go. Can't wait to have a few fuzzy butts in the house!

I keep reading about all of your gardening activities, and I am sad that I won't be growing anything this year

, except maybe lettuce in my containers. I am going to leave my garden fallow this year, and hopefully sometime this year we can get some of the very tall trees that are blocking the sun from the garden area taken down so I can plant next year.

I am going to enjoy a quiet day at home while the kids are in school.

It depends on what kind of rose it is. If it's a once blooming shrub rose, prune it after bloom. If it's a repeat bloomer, like a hybrid tea, now would be okay (but I'd still wait until the forsythia).

Quote:
You can still prune it, you just might not got any buds this year. My grampa was a rose fanatic and he said when you have to do a drastic prune, to take off anything that is fatter than the average mans pinky finger. Hope this helps. Looking at the size of your monster, you may want to take your main canes down to the height that you want and then go with the pinky trim. Always cut on an angle.(if you didn't know)

It sounds like a climbing Cecile Brunner. Maybe you should give it something to climb on instead of pruning it.

Holy cow that is a monster!!! Is it a climber or bush type? I'd probably still take back all the old canes to a desired height, cut out any old dead wood and then just manage the new growth over the next few seasons. I'd also probably use a pruning sealant as those will be some massive cuts! Have fun!

Gonna use a chain saw?

lol I gotta do something. The poor thing is so over grown and top heavy that if its not tied up it falls over on itself... I have a really nice pare of large clippers, but I'm not so sure that even those are heavy enough to cut through the thickest stalk... I have already taken off the obviously dead wood, but have been afraid to cut back much of the living, as I have NO clue how far to take it back. Do I prune it like a tree and only remove 30%, or can I do a more drastic pruning and remove 1/2 or more...?

Can you tell I have no clue what to do with this rose? lol I had someone that I thought I had hired. Paid them and everything, and they never once touched this rose. But every year I get blooms. All through spring, and into late fall. This plant was still budding out flowers in late december of this past year. Very pretty, medium sized, pink roses. The humming birds LOVE them for some reason.

Also I am not sure if this is supposed to be a bush or a climber... It has nothing to climb onto, so I am guessing it suposed to be a bush, but really its more like a small rose tree.
