I love it when things rub off on them! lol

I may have said this before but my DH said no way!! no chickens!! they stink and poop on everything!!!! I said yeah yeah I know... He built me a chicken run the day I went to go get my chickens. Then he built me an indoor coop inside the shed the run was attached to. He did not want them to freeze. Then he got worried a coyote or dog would get them and brought me in a mini 14 rifle to protect them. Then he shot at the coyote twice himself to protect them. THEN he bought me an incubator so I could hatch eggs. He watched the whole thing with me and added water for me when I was away. Then he insisted I get my lone Serama his own wives when I borrowed a big rooster and broke his heart (thanks JBear!). Then he goes out and talks to them every day and checks to make sure they are ok. Then he started catching the shy or mean ones and petting them so they will be tamer. NOW he is making the indoor coop bigger and helping me make another pen for more chickens... he he he...

I noticed over the past week, my DH has been feeding my girls, giving them treats, even going so far as to scramble up eggs for them!

I dont know T but if they suspect UC they should check for Crohns, I have Crohns and it was first spotted on CT during an ER visit. UC and Crohns are closely related. they attack different parts of the GI tract. it is autoimmune disease. mine was confirmed with Colonoscopy. along with UC or Crohns comes RA and a host of other side effects... the joint pain is crippling. IF they come up with either one I can point her to some really helpful groups and support. There are a number of other things that can present the same symptoms and for her sake...I am really hoping its one of the others ... I would not wish either of these diseases on anyone.

ETA I fought this for 5 years before being diagnosed, you can not describe the pain this disease causes...

OK ! I am ready!!
I really cannot waite to see him, she has some beautiful birds!!
I may be tempted myself, I am looking for a W-BW Ameraucana cockeral...young I hope.
I have a mess of pullets but I want new blood for the flock, not breeding brother to sister.
All the W&BW cockerals I have will have to go, as a result.

Dang, I wish I knew you had BW Ameraucana cockerels. I have a batch of Pips and peeps but didn't want to breed them until I got some new cockerels. I just got 18 eggs in the mail! Maybe still be interested since my pullets are almost laying age and any cockerel from these eggs will be a long time maturing. What lines do you have?

well the wind has stopped...almost creepy quiet now...I have finished my poop trays, filling feeders & waterers..AND my eggs in lockdown have decided to pip today instead of yesterday...hmI thought maybe I got the dayes wrong or worse, maybe the last cold storm (snow) we had killed fertility cuz I did not candle on final lockdown as I usually do, too rushed.
But they are pipping..so more Blue Ams coming....and I am going to get a shower & nap.
I feel so yucky nauseous & gut pain.
It takes about a week til the pain goes away, a week feeling week and still sore, and a third week to heal completely after an immunal attack scalds the intestines.
During which time, very little nutrients can be absorbed.
I usually am starving with hunger as the body is actually starving for fuel and the gut unable to absorb....maybe T does have celiac disease ?
I hope so!
It is better than the other thing by a long shot!!

Later everyone !

((((((((((T-Hi)))))))))))))

Redreiner, how is the Orp hatch going? I think you said your friend was setting 30 of them? Hope it's going well!

My blue Orp pullet has finally begun laying and laid a few eggs in the last week, one shell-less lovely and the rest looked good. My Lav pullet is still holding out on me! I think I will put whatever I have collected next week in the incubator maybe the night of the show. I'm going to collect next week and see if there is anything interesting that I come home with from the show before I fire it up again.

But keep me posted if you or your friend have any extra Orp blue/splash or Lav split babies you need to find homes for!!!

I'm planning to take our Black Orp Cockerel and our Blue Orp pullet to the show. Plus a pair of BLRW, a pair of blue/black bantam cochin and a pair of Lav Ameraucana. The girls and I will each take two birds and we have no intentions of winning anything, just going for the experience! Although my 11 yr old wants to do showmanship and I think she'll do pretty good with that!

Filling out show entries right now, but need to go and confirm band numbers and it's POURING out there!!

In my dreams. I am so envious of you guys. In order for DH to be interested in anything I do I would need a new one. LOL

HA! I was just going to PM you and let you know my friend is bring me up 2 dozen eggs to hatch, she hatched a bunch already and has another set in the bator. I will send you some pics of her birds. I think she is bringing one of the roosters and a blue pullet to the show. I will set mine this weekend and was going to let you know when they hatch so we could maybe trade some birds or something!
I am the same as you, I am bringing two girls I think just for fun. I have never shown a chicken before so what the hec, who cares if they are top notch or not. I gotta get my feet wet at some point so this will be learning experience for me. I will get to see yours at the show

and you can see my two nicest ones. as soon as they are laying consistantly and I get my other pen put up I will be on the lookout for a nice Rooster to put over them. hopefully lots of eggs by the start of summer!

I don't know if shes had this done but after watching mystery diagnosis and people with stomach issues she sould get an upper GI also with the barium stuff. With the lazy doctors these days you really need to be your own health advocate and force these doctors to do things or they never will. They will just let you die.

well I have some things on my side, he collects cars and very expensive car parts... so every time he gets a new car or big part I get another animal lol. he has 20+ cars and trucks, I have 13 or 14 4 legged critters and some chickens lol. he may complain but the second I try to get rid of one he gets upset and gives me reasons why I should keep said critter lol. He spoils them behind my back so it all works out. City boy that he is... sucker for a critter in need!
