So so sorry for everyone who has stomach issues. Hope every one gets things figured out and gets healthy or at least feeling better. I think problems with the stomach/digestion etc for me are the worst thing to deal with and get through. I haven't had anything chronic but just the stomach flu has me hating life. I would much rather have pain somewhere else. Hugs and prayers to you all. BTW, DH just came home early from work (and just when I thought I had the house to myself for a couple of hours) with stomach issues. Who knows, hes on a chemo type drug. Could be that or stomach flu (works in HVAC for the school district, lots of germies in those HVAC filters) Dunno, but just made him some Ginger and Peppermint tea. Hope that helps. He went to bed.

Alas, the rain and wind has stopped and the sun is beginning to peek out! Going outside to see what I can get done. Think I have a brooder to clean out.

Just received notification that my incubator has shipped. It should be here by 3/17....just in time for me to go over to the show and maybe find something interesting. he he hehehehehehe

CL: I do hope that you are feeling better soon. I am so sorry that you feel so awful.

And for T-HI: Make the doctors do the tests. This is crazy. You need to know what is going on. There has to be someway to get it done.

yeah, justbugged -- I used to fly sailplanes out of a field slightly east of Enumclaw, and used to fly the towplane over there from its base at Renton, so I remember flying over the flattened barns and the roofs in the next field or several fields over ...

the wind has dropped to light breeze level here now -- today was garbage day and we had to go out and prop up the big plastic bin cans, and retrieve a few errant items that spilled out when they overturned anyway -- actually most of the excess stuff that was littering our yard, was from the NEIGHBORS' cans ... wind out of the southeast so the Low must have gone north of us

pouring rain off and on, but the power hasn't flickered (my computer would have gone down if it had) -- chicks are nice and toasty warm in their brooder bin in the big tile shower -- actually I have heat lamps in the ceiling if I need them, but the chicks have been quite happy with the ceramic heater

this is a similar one -- mine is probably 20 years old; "they don't make them any more" ... LOL

since I got it second hand for about $3 ... I got a deal ! it uses a bit more electricity than the Brinsea EcoGlow, but truly no more than a standard incandescent lamp left on all the time

here is another one:

glad there was nothing worse for anyone than buckets and bins flying around

Its not raining here now so I am just gonna post and run...
For all those who are going to the show why not make a "route" and everyone meet along the way and caravan?
That way those who can carpool can from one of the "route" stops. Those who just want to meet up along the way can caravan with everyone...

ya know like a bus route with set times at set stops

Unfortunately, I don't think I can participate as I am not sure if we are coming over Fri night or early SAT morn. Either way, I need to book a motel....any suggestions of something clean and no bugs? In or close to Monroe.

Oh before I sign off and get to work, have a bunch of chickies hatching and peeping up a storm! So noisy.

But wanted to see what you all thought of my idea. I love Chickys idea of the sand in the poop trays and cleaning with the kitty litter sifter. Was trying to figure out how to do that on a large scale. Like sand in the entire coop instead of just the roost area since I didn't feel like building poop trays. Only problem was how to clean it since the kitty litter forks were so small. Wished they had something like that in large. Then I just had a brain storm today. I have a bunch of plastic horse manure forks that have missing tines. What if I figured out a way to cover them in hardware cloth to use as a sifter? Don't you think that would work? This way I could put sand in the coops and do away with shavings.

CL : If you can make it to the show, I'll make you sweet rice mangoes. ( Tummy Yummies)
T-Hi : Does your insurance cover alternative medicine??
How does accupunture sound to you?

I know a really experienced chinese doctor that can do wonders.

The Best Western is the closest most convienent place to the fairgrounds. Monroe is not .......hmmmmmmmmm....cute or anything, or touristy. We call it the last big truck stop before going over the pass. If you are coming over with your DH and want something cute/romantic anything like that, Snohomish is nearby and has a much cuter old town Main St. with lots of antique stores and a few Bed and Breakfast type places. And it's only 10-15 min's from the Fairgrounds. There are only 2-3 hotels in Monroe, mostly because the fairgrounds are here and it is the last big stop before going over the pass.

CGG --- a plastic lawn rake would probably do a reasonable job of moving poo to the edge/end where it could be scooped up -- that would be a less dusty method of doing it, methinks

your idea of using hardware cloth over the manure fork sounds workable too

Candy

who has had to scoop way too many dusty kitty litter boxes -- until we found a high tech litter box which filters it almost automatically
