the shirts were awesome, the potluck was great and so tasty, I was delighted to meet all of you
DH and I had a great time, looking at all the chickens and ducks -- he was particularly drawn to the millefleur d'uccles, the porcelains and blue wheatens of all the breeds, and absolutely amazed at the SIZE both large and small -- yes he thought MOT was outstanding
now he hopes our EEs will grow up to be nice looking too (though he and I both wish they could stay chipmunk-y)
I was interested to hear all the different sorts of rooster-crows ... yet I didn't hear *one* crow that sounded like my aunt's roosters (RIRs back before they were bred for showing -- brick red rather than mahogany)
errrk-er-errrk-er-errrrrr ...
oh yes, I wanted to take ALL the little chicks home with me, but the only ones I saw which were near the size of our three-week-old chicks, were one of the breeds I don't need yet ... right now I don't think I could cope with TWO breeder setups, for chicks of disparate size and age
meanwhile back at the ranch, my chicks managed to drink more than 2 liters of water in the ten hours we were gone ... and I would swear they grew at least another inch in all directions ... I was planning to move them to the livestock watering trough but I wonder now if that is big enough -- I'm going to go hunt for a cardboard carton that a washer or dryer or maybe even REFRIGERATOR, came in -- until they are sufficiently feathered that they can go out in the coop
we salvaged a plastic shelf unit that was just sitting by the side of the road, still need to go find vinyl for the floor and price sand for the bedding --- I couldn't find the Dollar Tree so didn't get the boot trays either (maybe next time I go up to Canyon Road; there is one there)
great day !
