Well, I still have 10 some pages to read....but I gotta get ready for work.
Cheri: Chasing the loose bird took me back to my 4-H days when on the first day of fair some form of critter got loose - steer, lamb, hog. Always funny to watch. I still to this day remember tractors dragging steers back to the steer barn...the steer throwing a temper tantrum all the way.
CR: Wanted to let you know that my mother LOVED (and I mean absolutelyed LOVED) the bell. We will probably be hanging it next weekend off their big porch. I will get you a photo. My dad was even impressed and he is such an a**h*** that it is hard to impress him nowadays.
I loved how involved they had the kids involved. I will continue to see if my DD would like to get involved. but it may be awhile before we do...research and deciding. She kept wanting one of everything. We set eggs in our new incubator last night and she was talking about keeping all the chicks...was upset when I said....no we are going to sell them or eat them. She did not like that.
Cheri: The BCM ladies names are Emily and Amelia. Just because of lack of space and some free ranging in my yard, they went into the coop to be out of the weather....I really did not have another good place for them. I have one BR hen that I am watching as she is the "head-hen" and she seems to be pushing Emiy and Amelia around, but all the other BR ladies are just being indifferent and just don't care. When they were free ranging in the yard...it was my roo that was aggressive...so he was taken and separated out from everyone...he is unhappy.
CL: I had to take the larger girl out of the tub and put her in her own as she was picking on the little ones. Her name is Matilda or Tilly for short. The gray pullet is Sophie, and the black one is Juliet. DD named them. We bought a "separation pen" at the feed store and this has become Sophie's and Juliet's temporary home until they are big enough. Matilda had to stay in the rabbit cage (rabbit is loose in the run) as she kept picking on the little girls. They are all now loose in the run (the rabbit run) together this morning. All of them freaked out about the rabbit (yesterday) but soon calmed down when they realized they could peck her (the rabbit) on the nose.
All are doing well. Well, off to get ready for work.
