Hi all. I am in Eastern Washington and raising chickens for the first time this year. My daughters and I are excited! We got silver laced wyandotte and "golden sexlink" (whatever those are) chicks. I'm about to start on my coop! Any pointers or example designs would be helpful.

Thanks

My oldest son is on here also OrpingtonDude.

That's so neat for you!

Maybe if there are several of us who can't go all three days, one of us could go on Fri and coop in, and one person go on Sunday and bring birds back up? Don't know, just frantic!

That is the scenic route but also the very long way. For anybody west of the Cascades take I-5 south to I-205. Then from I-205 you can take SR 14 (the WA side of the big creek) head east, or go a little more south to Oregon and take I-84 head east and take exit 44 (Cascade Locks) cross The Bridge of the Gods. On the other side of the bridge you wil come to SR-14 go right (east) turn onto Rock creek drive and this will take you to the faif grounds (on the right).
I am at exit 68 on I-5 and from me the show is about 115 miles.

It's 334 miles for me, 5 1/2 hours driving................

I've done it a couple times now.

I was looking at Pistol farms in Oregon and she was talking about herbs being used as bug preventatives. Anyone else use natural insecticides? And is there a definite opinion as to cedar shavings? Anybody have an opinion or info. on the subject?

Lots of people coop in on Saturday mornings at the shows I go to, the problem is getting there early enough to make sure you have time to prep your birds. I think judging starts at 9 am
