Stevenson is 135 miles from Yakima. Stevenson is in the Cascade Mountain Range, but on the Columbia River. So from Yakima you go down through Goldendale on Hwy 97 until you meet Hwy 14. You can't miss Hwy 14 without getting very wet or crossing a bridge. Just turn right and head west. Don't cross any bridge. The scenic route is Goldendale and take Hwy 142 and you will go through the town of Klickitat. That Hwy pops out in White Salmon, and once again head West. That is the same distance as Hwy 97. If you do end up in Oregon then take I-84 west to Cascade Locks, and then go over the Bridges of the Gods bridge. That is 153 miles. But it maybe slightly faster, because that is a real freeway.

Yes it's 331 miles from our front door to Stevenson. We're 3 hours from Yakima.

Good Gravy, RFF, how fast do you drive? I always allow 4 hours to get to Yakima.

Edited: as I probably should not be using real names, I should use call names when on her. Sorry.

I live close to Dallesport, WA....across the Columbia River from The Dalles. I was wondering if anyone nearby had Marans. I just love the color of the egg!! That nestle chocolate color is amazing!! I am looking for a couple to add to my flock.

H E L P !!
I just sold 2 of my ducklings this afternoon & they just called me back,
saying that one of my duckies must have choked on something.
It is gaging & foaming and shaking its head and balance is way off.
Any clues??

I have the freshest chickens in town. I throw herbs like rosemary and lavender into with the bedding. It's supposed to prevent mites and lice. Citrus oils kill fleas and things. Mix in some lemon zest?

Yea, those are what she used too. I was also wondering about sand in the coop and what bearing that has on harboring bugs? Do bugs avoid or careless about being in sand?

Can I get the website for this place please..

Im so sorry I dont know anything about ducks.

Did you ask them what they feed it? Also what kind of set up they have for it. That might be a start.

Maybe put something in the help area and see what they say.

Welcome. I just got my first Black Copper Marans eggs last weekend at the Monroe chicken show so they are just now incubating. I will have to sell some of them when they hatch if you want to wait. Otherwise there are quite a few people here that have them so you should not have any trouble suppling your addiction. No reformers here, only enablers and enablees!

I am a pet owner my dogs need to be healthy first. .

There are many great yorkies that meet the breed standard (which really isn't breeding for the smallest dog, they have a minimum required weight) and have wonderful temperaments. There's a great lady I met at a show near seattle with a couple champs, wonderful personality. I sometimes do miss the terrier attitude that is missing in some lines of yorkies (but which has a downside as well- prey drive)

Lol My Yorkies have a lot of terrier in them. Snickers is has the worst prey drive of all the dogs. The rest are mostly okay with the chickens and cats, but Snickers can set the whole group off, and then everyone will chase a lick anything that they can catch. I no longer let the chickens and dogs out at the same time. It is kind of funny to watch the cat tease and egg on the dogs. The cat knows that mom will nearly always yell at the dogs.

There are times when, I just plain get tired of the hassle of having dogs with a high prey drive. I have found that I really like calm half brain dead dogs that refuse to chase anything more than their own tail.

Unfortunately I love extremes, and long hair. I adore true LGDs. They all tend to be very large dogs, that are independent thinkers. That often makes them difficult at times to train. Then I also love the tiny little dogs. I would love to have an Affenpincher, but they are a bit difficult to find on the West Coast. I have a funny feeling that Affens could be difficult with chickens too.

It sounds like that the duck ate something poisonous. I would wonder what kind of plants that the duckling was around. Also I would check the ducklings throat to see if it has something stuck in it's throat. At this point if you can get it to a vet it would be the best thing to do right now. If not you may need to cull it.

I am wishing you the best.
