Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great holiday. We went to Cle Ellum to my in-laws. It was wonderful! I wanted to update you on the Maltby Community Club. They show it on Thursday evenings at 7:30, and can take reservations and deposits at that time too. I was planning on going next Thursday, since this last one was a holiday. I have an email message out to ask about cancellations. Have a great weekend!

ETA: I mentioned in a past post that I was raising mealworms, and not having any luck. Well, I was sfting through the bran to get the beetles out and feed them to the chickens, when I noticed that the bran looked like it was alive and moving. I looked closer and sure enough I have a ton of tiny worms! I am so EXCITED! I thought they were going to be free loaders too. We are going to decorate the house for x-mas tomorrow. I love the way the house looks so festive. Anyway, just wanted to share.

I got my Welsummer from Royce aka Tailfeathers, I think in late August. I really should write these kinds of dates down. This is clearly not my forte.

I got some of his older chicks that he still had in his brooders pens, and some younger ones that were out there to. I don't think I ever knew exactly how old any of them where when I got them. The older ones were completely feathered out. I still kept them all together in the brooder until I got the Salmon Faverolles in mid September. I don't think that this has been much an answer. About the egg color, a number of Royce’s Welsummers, laid speckled eggs. So I don’t think they will change very much, but we will have to wait and see.

Chookchick; I got the Cuckoo Marans from the Randall Burkey Hatchery. I will not buy from them again.
somad.gif
The percentage of cockerels was really high on the straight run chicks; I also ended up with no Silver Lakenvelders that I could keep. Then in the first week or so, all of the Black Sumatra chicks died one after another.
hit.gif
I am fairly sure it wasn't something that I was doing wrong, because all the other chicks were fine. Somehow I ended up with only one of the Cuckoo Marans, and she has really very dark coloring for a Cuckoo Marans. She should have be lighter, more like a Bard Rock's color.
Both of my Marans so far have laid very light brown eggs. At least I think it's them laying the larger light brown eggs. I am very disappointed in that, I really wanted the very dark eggs. I do have 11 Black Copper Marans eggs in the incubator. I forgot to write down the day that I put them in the bator too.

Some days I know without a doubt that I am a dingbat, and other days it's been truly confirmed.
gig.gif
I think they are going to hatch sometime next week, maybe Thursday? Maybe I will e-mail the seller from E-bay, and ask her if she remembers what day she shipped them to me.
th.gif
If any of them hatch they will have really good lines from some of the original imports, and the eggs are really dark in color.

Rainplace Your dog snores really loudly.
gig.gif
She also passes really nasty gas.
sickbyc.gif
I hate cheep dog food, it make the gas smell worse. But she is getting better each day.

Tomatolady I might have to reevaluate our friendship, if you don't stop giving me living things..... Oh!! Wait that was just my DH talking.
gig.gif

P.S. So much for not talking so much on the Washington thread. Isn't ADD a lot of fun.

Hi There!

We love this thread. Everyone here is so nice and fun to talk to. And sometimes very entertaining.

Justbugged, you willingly took the kittens. BTW, I still have two more beautiful grey ones.
big_smile.png
You can't count the Tinfoil Barbs until tomorrow when I deliver them. And, on a positive note, I still have my goats lounging on my deck. (they could be lounging on your deck) DH curses every time he goes out to smoke. I think he mutters something about goat poo on the deck.

I got 15 eggs today!

Justbugged, are you calling that dog, my dog? Hah! My hubby says no dogs, so he can't be mine

welcome-byc.gif
KellyandKatie, you'll like it here!

tomato lady, you have kittens? Hubby and I were just talking about maybe getting another one or two...

AND the news of the day, the muscovies are gone! I am one happy gal

Yes, Rainplace, I have two adorable grey kittens and I deliver. Just have to get my pet carryer back from Justbugged. She used it to take home those two chickens she saved from freezer camp on our trip south. I think her husband is going to black-list me if animals keep going home with her when we get together.

If you are interested in the kittens just pm me.

Rainplace The kittens look like Russian Blue mixes. I am talking to Tomatolady on the phone and she says "I deliver". Tomatolady is going to check out whether or not they pink kittens or blue kittens.
lau.gif

I have managed to get homes for most of the other kittens.
ya.gif
I still have one at my house that has been named Misery.
th.gif
She is still seriously upset that I even exist. Her face is like
somad.gif
The first time I picked up the little cat, she bit me so bad that I was bleeding several spots on my hand.
barnie.gif
Her first name was Satan.
lau.gif
She is very miserable now in my sewing room. But I was able to finally pet her without leather gloves on just last night.
wee.gif
Little by little she is becoming accustom to being fed canned cat food, and my being around everyday. I hope soon she will be able to be placed with someone.
hugs.gif
All the other kittens are much more personable. And Ellis the one I am keeping likes my dogs, and the other cats are warming up to him so he is a keeper for sure.

About the dog. I am going to call it your dog because you posted the listing from craigslist here on the thread. I wasn't even looking at craiglist pet postings, I have figured out that it always seems include something I just need to rescue.
gig.gif
And I figured out that if your DH says no dogs at your house, he didn't say that you can't have a dog that lives lives at my house.
lau.gif

Zhou Chow is a bit like having a room ornament. She does have a bad habit of laying right in the way when we are walking around. I am really very good at walking around all the obstacles though, And at least Zhou is easier to climb over than Puppy is.

Oops It took me too long to post before Tomatolady did. I had to peel the purple potatoes.

P.S. I do have a strange sense of humor. I got it from my Dad.

A very warm welcome KellyandKatie If you can you might want to read the posts from the last month or two. We have been trying to plan a party on February 28th. This is so we can all meet finally. We were going to do it potluck style, and we are hoping to rent the Maltby Community Center. I know that we have a number of members that live out on the Kitsap Peninsula.
