Wonderful dinner, and peach cobler for dessert. Too late to check for more eggs when I got home... tired and turkey coma coming on. Even Moody is stuffed to the gills.

Cranberry sauce and Organic yogurt for the chooks tomorrow. "Must to fatten you up with lots of calcium my fine feathered laying friends" and their sisters and Roo, too.

Its wonderful to see happy hens. MIne are giving me 4 to 5 eggs per day. I am waiting for my aracauna to start laying, praying for blue eggs or green.

Was wondering if anyone else has done a donation to Michaels chicken feed fund?

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving. heading out in 2 hours to go shopping for Christmas!

Have a great night!!

I sent you a PM. Let me know.

Good morning everyone. Happy Black Friday! I will not be shopping today.

Wish I could take advantage of a few of the deals that are out there, but it isn't worth it to me to get out in this mess. Good luck to those who are out there, and happy shopping.

Let me know how you do.

I won't be participating! The only year I went out there, some woman in a huge truck slammed into our car in a parking lot and then sped off. Some guy in a van yelled at us, "Don't worry, I'll go after her," and the chase was on. He comes back about 15 minutes later with the woman following behind him. Turns out he was an off duty police officer. This woman proceeds to tell us off using the most profane language. Saying how we ruined her day, she had better things to do with her time... blah blah blah. She tried to take off again and but the officer in the van blocked her in. The entire episode tainted anything that includes shopping madness. To make it worse, I didn't end up getting a single deal. Instead we ended up with a broken car 200 miles from home and no shops who could take care of it until after the weekend when we had to be back at work

Made for a great story to the boss though!

PMing back right now, Weavegarden.

I think we had already set Michael up till the beginning of December. I need to go to Reber Ranch this weekend so I was gonna get him a bag or two. Probably tomorrow.

So sorry about your trouble rainplace. Some people! Sheesh. Glad there was a police officer around to help. Hope you are OK.

Oh my Goodness RonB, you are totally right. 4 girl lays on day 4. Francie, the designated midwife must have been taking lessons. A beautiful rich brown colored egg from her. Here is the proof that it is 4 different hens. Note the color differences of the eggs below. I am amazed. Tuesday I was eggless, and today I have 4 laying hens..... Amazing.

It has helped with the sadness of likely losing my battle to save Pinky. But he is still needing an alternative, just in case. I believe he is ultra responsible as Roos go. So if anybody know of someone who might be willing to give him an actual home (not a home in the stew pot) let me know. If he must end up in a pot, I would rather do the deed myself. I owe it to him. He has served his flock very well.

If you still need an alternative...I was thinking of getting some more Australorp pullets in the spring if he can wait that long for a flock... I really like the one I already have. DH has his bantams.. I was going to do Australorps and Brahmas. Just need to get off my butt and build coops. Ugh.

No stew pot here as long as he minds his manners

The day after Thanksgiving and I am feeling like sleeping the day away. I just had to try everything, even if that required two platefulls. Four of my daughters put on quite a feed. And then there was the family -- children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I looked around and again it hit me. I am truly an old lady! I don't feel like the oldest one in the family. What happened?

Don't feel so smug, all you youngsters out there. This will happen to you someday too. It kind of sneeks up on you, then one day you look around and discover you are the old one in the crowd. My mother lived to be 96 years old so she was protected me from the "old lady" status for many years.

The good part (if there really is a good part) is that some of the kids go easy on you and you don't have to cook as much. Kids and grandkids made all the pies, son-in-laws cooked the ham and turkey, daughters took over making the dishes I was supposed to bring because my DH is not feeling well. That part was OK. I ended up bringing a berry and banana fruit bowl. It was good and very easy.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and are recovered sufficiently to enjoy the week-end.

Hey Russ
I was going to call the first Monday in Dec for feed for Michael. Maybe I should do it this Monday .. what do ya think

I need to learn how to post pictures on here. You should see the egg my golden sex link laid it has to have at least THREE yokes. I don't know how she got that sucker out her vent. I thought somebody was playing a joke on me it is double the size of the rest of my eggs

well off to another turkey din-din
