oh yeah!! there will be more I am sure, today is only day 19 so pretty happy they are pipping, at the least I thought they would take an extra day to pip
smile.png

hey do you day rent ducks?? lol I will be overwhelmed with slugs here shortly, I wanna rent some ducks for a day to go from one end to the other and eat all the slugs
smile.png
think it would work?

Nooo... the neighboring slugs will hurry right in to take the places vacated by the departed slimies... gonna hafta get your own duckers. Once upon a time, I had one little white duck named Quark. She had a routine and schedule and she wandered all over 2+ acres every day. I didn't have any slugs, not ever for 2 years after she died because she ate all the eggs even.

no way...I will make the neighbor come and get them and confine them like they should be...irresponsible slug owners

I have 2 babies out, they played soccer so hard to count pips now. but I think 8 more pips. noisy little things in there!!

ETA I woke up with the flu...everything hurts and I cant turn the faucet off...

And don't forget next Saturday is Fuschia day at Fred Meyer. They used to be 50 cents apiece for 2" pots. Last year they were 5 for 3 dollah. And if you bring empty pots they will pot up to 5 or 6 pots with their potting soil for free if you show the receipt. If you go down a day or two in advance you can have a better choice of plants and they will still pot them up on Saturday. It's usually cold and the wait is a long line, but still free soil. Then, it's for sure better if you can hang them in a green house. They also have geraniums for the same price. I at least go down to get the cheap fushcias but don't brave the lines and cold. I love having my porch filled with fuschias and have one flower bed full of geraniums. Sure gonna have to pen up the free ranging ladies pretty soon. or no nice garden for me.

Yeah, but Fred Meyer's won't have the selection. Earth Farm has hundreds of varieties; some very unusual and hard to find. The chances of Fred Meyer's having something like 'Martin's Yellow Surprise' are slim to none. I admit it. I'm a bit of a horticultural snob. I like the rare and unusual.

I like fuchsias on my porch, too.

Anybody want to meet up with me to go raid tthe greenhouse at Lake Wa Tech Institute the friday after the Stevenson show????? They have a fantastic green house sale. Bring that truck and your check book.

Last year I went there bright & early at 9am and came home with my Sion packed I couldn't close the door. This year, I'm bringing our Tundra.

They have fuchias, vegetables, flower baskets, angle's trumpets, perenials, annuals, in six packs, 4 inches, gallon pots etc etc...did I mention veges???? All kinds of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, lettuces, cabbages, tomato wanabies, and big flowering bush things. All at really reasonable prices.
Anybody??
We can meet there and wait for them to swing open the gates.

OK, I'm bad when it comes to plants...
It is worse than an AA.

Move over duckies, mommy is going to the PLANT SALE.
Oh, and for those of you that like FUCHIAS, the fuchia lady might be having a sale before M's day. I'll go find out.
Rianwolf, your mom says she knows about this one.

I do miss little Harriet. She's so cute! She will go broody every now and then and she's a great mom.

Are these the calico cochins? (I think that is what RFF called them)...gosh they were so cute. I wanted them so bad, but DH and I talked ourselves out of it....but if they had not sold (to someone else) by the end of the day I WAS gonna buy them. Loved them.

Vegetable starts: kale, collards, lettuces, japanese egg plants? , Giant 1500lb pumpkins, tomatoes, peas beans cukes, are all for sale, but realistically, only base ball sized zukes, lettuces & peas do well in my area, but a girl can dream.
Petunias
Pansies
lupines
fuchias
basils
tomatoes
day lilies
sedum
Just take a walk at Flower World or Molbaks. You'll see the plantaholics carts loaded with stuff.

I think that's an excellent idea. I hate slugs. But we have a bigger problem with snails. Would the ducks be able to take care of them as well?
