I had an appointment today.

I told my doctor my concerns.

It was funny, she didn't mention DS AT ALL. The only time she got close to mentioning it was when she brought up my excellent quad screen results. She sounded more concerned with a heart defect and said that's why they are sending me to Spokane for the 3-D u/s.

Also, the EIF's are on BOTH sides of the baby's heart....not just the left like I originally was told last week when the nurse called. Which, depending on what you read may make the risk for the baby having DS something like 4 times my age-related risk.

She said that they want to rule out something wrong with the heart...because if it's something serious, they'll send me to Spokane or Seattle to deliver because they don't have the facilities here to accommodate a baby with a heart condition at birth. She did say that the heart has four chambers (like it sound) and when I read what was on the screen, she pointed out the radiologist's exact wording with the EFI's as "TINY." She said sometimes there are large ones, holes in the heart, missing chambers, weird aortas, etc. Luckily, that's not the case with my baby.

She then COVERED the part of the screen about the EIF's and showed me what the radiologist had said....that EVERYTHING else was 100% perfect with the baby's measurements, all of her (other) organs looked great (kidneys, intestines, bladder, brain), the leg bone measurements are good, the nasal bone was there, the lips are forming perfectly, and the baby's crown to rump and weight are perfect for her gestational age. She also said that the cord is attached well with good blood flow and oh by the way, "you have a low-lying placenta." Not enough to call it "placenta previa" at this point but just something to watch. HA! Like I need anything else at all to "watch!"

Overall, my appointment made me feel a little bit better....not much but better.

So with the 3-D u/s on the 28th, they will have a neonatal cardiac specialist there and they'll be re-measuring and checking everything out in great detail. If there is DS and/or a heart defect we will know at that appointment. My DH is coming with me, as well. My doctor did say that I'll get some awesome 3-D images of baby's face.

I think she meant she only "finished" one. The other 3 are in around the house, coops and stable and range from 3/4 empty to just a mouthfull.

Ha Ha very funny! I am kind of a light weight but not too bad. It's probably because I was thirsty and drank it on an empty stomach.

Me too - sure sign my college days are over! The other week I was loopy on 2 glasses of wine. I don't think I could even drink Tequila anymore. DH hardly drinks anymore either, and when he does, he is very picky. We have a big Oktoberfest here every September and I always have lots of beer to give away when it is over.

I have a boxer also... I still havent figured out how to train a boxer. waaaaaaay to much drive rattling around in that spacey head. Rose got to see the new hatchlings last night...she snorted snot all over them and vibrated from head to tail...I knew it wasnt cause she thought they were cute either...it was cause she views them as squeaky toys to chase and grab. I trained field trial dogs and they are nuts, but do not compare to the flying boxer I have lol

Our boxer used to chase the chickens right over a cliff.
This is the exact reason I never give my dogs any squeeky toys.
Toni gave Jack one, and in a few minutes he had eaten most of it, no more.

I chose Sweedish because they had a great neonatal unit, but they tend to get full on full moon nights.

Great food. Loved it.
Don't worry. You'll be fine. Talk to baby...have a ball.

Talk to DH on the phone just a while ago.
he said his Dad is yelling, throwing & breaking things, then sits down & cries & wants to be alone, then back again.
DH is having to play "wife", and making his Dad eat, and take his diabetes meds, and stop drinking..he has been drinking himself into a stupor 2 X a day foloowed by a "booze snooze".
DH then has to go through paperwork, bills, balance checking accounts, run to the grocery, clean the old crud out of the fridge, feed, round up & give away Emus, and feed & collect eggs from the chickens....wash & dry & fold laundry..all while his dad drinks into oblivion and then naps.
This is irritating me to no end.
It is all I can do to not tell him to just stay down there and baby him forever..heck he is not going to live long with 2 drunk episodes a day so much so he passes out by 2 in the afternoon, and again at 7 PM...he is a diabetic for crying out loud!
I told DH to HIDE the booze.
Get tough.
Make Dad DO SOMETHING!
Doing everything for him while he yells screams, throws things and drinks himself into a stupor everyday is not going to help him get into a routine, MAKE him go to the pharmacy with you, MAKE HIM do laundry with you, and see about getting him a puppy, something to give him a reason to live, a reason to stay sober, a helpless puppy he can take with him on trips and talk to, A FRIEND.
DH says Dad does not want any birds or animals anymore (typical)
I told him to go get a little breed puppy (a terrier for example) something easy to travel with and sleep with..he will HAVE to be there for, a friend to walk with and eat with...hopefully a little puppy will give this man a reason to live, and turn his self destructive behavior around.

CR does amazing work ... I think I may post this on my FB and maybe see if I can get him some more orders after Stevenson.

I was going to talk to the guy who owns the local nursery, but when I wne there today, I saw there is a man locally who has his stuff on display. He too lost his job a few months ago and is looking for a way to stay in his home. He had beautiful wall murals and coat racks with trees, mountain goats, mountains, bears, crows, but no chickens and no bells.

In the summer, I plan on ordering a second bell for my brother.
