I have 1 BW Ameraucana Pullet that I dont feel can go back in with her hatch mates... Ive tried 3 times, and each time her poor vent gets picked bloody. I also have the little cockeral too...

But maby Chickielady wants dibs on the pullet...

Yeah, I thought the color was a bit off on those eggs. But I paid for them, and cant afford and wouldnt be able to make my DH understand throwing these out and purchasing more... So I will see what hatches, and hopefully they will be at least good enough for the freezer.

Oh... And I gotta figure out what to do with this one Wheaton Ameraucana cockeral. He's sweet as can be, quite pretty, and a brother to my pullets... I keep trying to explain to my husband why I wont breed him to the girls, and why I need to get a replacement. lol

Cowgirlgrace has 2 cockerals, one for you & I may get one, but not sure if I will at this point.

Did you wind up with a BW pullet out of the eggs we got? If not I have the one here that gets picked on. She's very pretty and so very sweet. I just dont want to try to put her back with her hatch mates for a fourth time... Poor little girl gets plucked bloody each time I try.

DH just came in to tell me one of my pullets got OUT of the chicken tractor and was pecking busily around the yard

luckily they have become so tame and used to us giving treats, that he walked right up to her, picked her up, and tucked her back in the tractor

usually I am out with them, but so sore from helping DH drag the big troughs that will be the framework for the new run, that I stayed inside with my trusty aspirin --- let him mind the chickens --- and he walked off for just a couple of minutes and ....

time for me to bundle up, grab my book, and go out to sit with them

You're welcome! I was more than happy to help. So Zgoatlady and I had a nice chat yesterday morning. She met me at the family wine shop and we visited for a good half hour before I was compelled to start working. We were talking about the possibility of having a "South Siders" meeting, much like the secret cult meetings up north. We realized we were standing in the perfect place for a meet-up. The wine shop, Vino Aquino, is located on 6th Avenue which runs straight through Tacoma and is just 3 minutes off of freeway exit. We close the shop to the public at 6 PM, so we could have the place to ourselves most any week night, Monday - Thursday, from maybe 6-8 PM. We could bring a little something to share if we wanted or not, and I just happen to know where the open wine is kept if we wanted to do a little sampling. We also have a coffee pot if we just wanted to stick to coffee or tea. We typically have Private Wine Tasting Parties reserved on Fridays and Saturday nights. Wine Club meetings or "Shiners" meetings are held once a month so we'd just have to plan ahead to make sure we didn't coincide with their meeting night.

Any and all would be welcome - just a nice place to meet when we wanted. We can comfortably hold 25 people. We have 2 table and chairs sets. Folks can mill around, whatever is comfortable.
And no charge. Does this sound do-able? Anyone interested?

sounds terrific -- will be there --- any night but Tuesday, when DH needs the car

I think this sounds totally fun!!

I posted in the "Incubating" section of the forum and got a big "Go!" from someone else. That and Cheryl's go ahead works for me. I just helped DH make a few adjustments in the coop, (we had to secure my roosts), tossed all the girls out in the run together and now I'm going to focus on setting those eggs!

Wish me luck.

I'm glad you're in for a South Side meet! I was hoping your work locale would aid in making your decision.

So far, you, me, Kaneke, Zgoatlady - let's have a few others weigh in and we'll plan a date! I'm sure I can get my gf that attended Stevenson with me to show as well. She's just 5 minutes from the shop. This could be fun!

Looks like a Scottish Highland, thats what DW wants.

Yep you got it right on the nose! My neighbors across the street have a small herd of Scottish highland cattle. So very gentle. Lambert is the big bull that likes to break out and come visit me.
