If your serious about the icelandics, your gonna have to get your foot in with the icelandics croud. And if they think that you will allow cross breeding with the icelandics, they will not give or sell you any eggs. Ive been talking with them since that thread started, and have followed the progress since day one. As far as I have heard, there isn't anyone in washington with Icelandics yet. I too would like to get my hands on some Icelandics, and think I would be perfectly happy with nothing but icelandics, as they vary so much in type, and color. Quite the interesting breed.
I got kicked off here in April of last year finally got back.......it was so weird that it happened.
I have been posting that i want to buy eggs and its frustrating because i read posts where they are giving away test eggs for free.
I can isolate them when breeding because i have a chicken tractor they can be kept in when i want pure or intentional cross bread birds. as it stands i have too many people in my area that have all the other icelandic critters that now that they have heard i am working on this they want to get some from me....
Also have a 4-h leader here wanting me to hatch some of these rare breeds for her grandaughter to show in our county fair. any one of these breeds would blow our common judges away as the only birds in this area are the common ones in feed stores or the mutts the mexicans raise.
I will keep asking them but it sounds like someone on that thread ticked off the original poster.
