Yes..it would be great if there more shows and things happening closer to me. I don't think i will be able to make this show since it is so far away.
I am familiar with Eastern Washington, yes: Mom was born in Prosser; I had a great-aunt who ran a motel in Omak for about fifty years. My Mom's Uncle Dick lived in Waterville, her Aunt Nel lived in Washtucna, the great-aunt I was named for lived in Farmington, which for years you could only get to by driving into and out of Idaho, and I had a cousin who ran the Cenex in Odessa before he died. I've got an old boyfriend who went to school in Bridgeport, and one of my closest friends is from Entiat. My Auntie Mag lived on a apple orchard in Tieton and worked at the grocery store there, cooking breakfast at their cafe counter. Also I went to WSU after I got a BA from Evergreen in 1974 (BA Anth, 1978)- not counting going to 4-H Conference there every June from 1966-1971. I actually
like Eastern Washington, to the extent that my husband and I once drove up the gravel road in Moses Coulee just to see what it looked like. There were pink mariposa lilies and a corral with an old recliner next to the headgate, it was wonderful.
On the other hand, my Mom's parents moved to Yelm in 1919 (Mom was born at her grandparent's house, because my grandmother and her sisters were all gathered there to can peaches), and my Dad's great-grandparents came to Union Mills in the 1890s, so this is where I am.
I wish there were poultry shows in those two towns because I'd like an excuse to visit them again! I can go to Elma any old time.
wonderful, beautiful story/family tree telling. Who was the great-aunt who ran the motel? which motel? Bridgeport is one of the top 3 finalists of high schools to have President Obama speak at for their graduation ceremony. Did any of you know that? I won't talk the poliltics as everyone's thoughts are different and I don't want to get into it or start something...but I think that this is kinda cool for tiny Bridgeport. Although, I do feel Bridgeport has become a bit of a hub for the drug trafficing that happens in our area (just my personal opinion for what it is worth). Bridgeport HS will find out on Monday (I believe) if they got it or not.
