Ok guys here's the update!! Not that anyone cares!! lol Thanks to 4312 and the fencing we got from her we now have the chicken yard built for the new coop! My wonderful boyfriend finished it in the pouring rain yesterday so we could let the young ones play. They love it!! He wanted it buried cause he saw what my layers did to the area they were in so yea, it was a lot of work! We got most of the framing wood for the new coop but, still have to get the rest of the materials for that. I guess people don't like Muscovy's here, I put my drake on CL and haven't had one e-mail?? Yet I have seen them in a few of the fields around here, so people must know of them?? He just does not want to leave on of my new hens alone and I don't want him killing or hurting her, I have tried locking him away for a week and then turning him out with them, but he just goes right over and starts picking on her!! Congrats to all the new hatchies!! I'm afraid my first attempt is not going to be successful!! I have had the hardest time with keeping the bator regulated and next wed is day 18, I will candle and lock down and wait. I really didn't think it would be that hard to find a place and regulate the temp and humidity. I had gotten a fluker hygometer and temp digital read out, and my temps have flucuated any where from 98.5 -100.5!!! I know so many of you say that flucuation isn't a huge deal, but, I just can't figure out why so much?? There are no drafts, no heaters??? I just don't get it?? so just

your fingers cause, you know I'll be doing the chicken bator dance, I do dance and I like to dance and I'm going to make one up!! lol!!!!

My DH has the same opinion of nasty white eggs that you do! On Easter, the kids were bummed because they had no eggs to color since ours come pre-decorated, so I went out and bought 2 Austrawhites at the Grange. DH said "NO MORE WHITE EGGS." I'm saying no more chickens - I am up to 45 + hatching eggs!!!! Only 12 are old enough to lay, and 4 of those are broody

I need them all to lay - HUGE demand for eggs here!

Austrawhites should lay a brown egg?

Or am I confused?

You bet!! thanks!! it makes a nice fence for these guys, we lined the outside bottom half with chicken wire so it's nice and safe!! Trying to get it done has been a booger!! My God! we do NOT get thunder and lighting hardly at all, and the past two days, it's thundered and lightning and rained like you guessed it!! A cow pissin on a flat rock!!!!! LOL!

all I know is it's pissin me off! LOL
