Yes, it is neurological, but we are being told at the vet office that it does cause a respiratory problem and can be transmitted through a sneeze. Our office is telling people that there is NO vaccination that will cure, help, or prevent.

right, it still has the respiratory part but affects neuro. my friend lives about a 1/4 up the road. she put her horses in the front yard to keep them away from the neighbors horses...I think they should stay in the barn but they are hers not mine. I told her she could not come over, not even if she bathed in bleach lol. also told her if she needed anything to let me know... I would throw it out the window when I drove past her house doing 80 mph! her horses so far show no sign of infection but they still have more time left to see if they come down with it.

I'm also concerned about what the shoer might bring in. I have one coming today and wondering what preventive measures he is taking.

Call and ask him...that very question. What is he doing as preventive measures? He should be sanitizing the bottoms of his boots too.

Just treat it like parvo!! change clothes, disinfect shoes, and everything the animal has touched,, ect

Woot Woot!

Look what I found at the Habitat Restore. So Excited. I am going to use it to house my little ones in at night, so that they can sleep outside.

I do have a question though, and you'll have to look at this last picture to maybe see what I mean. I want to put vent holes in the top part, how big should I make them?

The entire box is 18 x 18 and then it is about 28 inches deep, it will one day be used to hold my sack of feed(still in the sack, not poured in) so I don't want the holes to be too big.

Anyone here (RFF?) every see any 'papers' written on comb sprigs as to wether it is from in breeding, or a genetic fault, or a sign of a cross breeding ?
I would appreciate any links or a point in the right direction, Thanks.

Just a quick update on my hatch. So the early pipper hatched last night and seems to be doing fine. I think I posted on here that my hatch day was Saturday, but it is actually tomorrow 5/20. So 2 days earlier feels better to me than 3 days! So far I only have one more noticable pip. Hoping for some serious action soon!

Julie/Pettec63, if your sure your humidity is only 45%, you can add another wet wad of papertowel or another piece of wet sponge. I would rather err on the side of too dry than too humid though as you can drown them easily, so watch when you add more wet matter in. If it sky rockets, make the piece of sponge smaller. Yes, you want to aim for 55-60%.
