I've had some respiratory problem passing through my flock and lost my first chick to it. Two more are having trouble breathing and clicking when they breathe. I am waiting for my Denagard to arrive but I really want to know exactly what it is

Edit: I should actually be grateful that this is my first loss. It started over a week ago with two of my hens breathing terribly. All the hens are fine now, and apparently my neighbor's chickens "all got sick and died" according to their son who came asking for one of my chicks (

). So yeah, I'm just grateful none of my big girls have died and that there are only a few I'm really worried about. The others seem to be recovering.

Get some Sulmet and then make sure you get that necropsy done...chickens don't get colds or have allergies...do you show your birds? Do wild birds get in with your chickens at all?

Infectious Coryza?

I don't think it's Coryza as nobody had a weird smell to them. My guess is MG, or maybe IB. It's just weird because my hens responded wonderfully to duramycin and it made no difference for the chicks

. I really hope the Denagard works or that we have Tylan at our feed store...

Trouble breathing as in it's labored, sometimes open-mouthed, and I can hear a clicking when one of them breaths WITHOUT holding it up to me. I also have one that is stuffy and congested and others with slight congestion and changes in their peep tones. They are all lively, energetic, and love to eat. Oh, and we also had some nasal discharge but I haven't noticed any in awhile. The first chicks who got it are now recovering after being sick for a 10 days.

No and definitely yes. We are in the forest and have birds EVERYWHERE. I'm already expecting it to be a CRD, it would just be nice to know what I'm dealing with.

The Brabanters seemed to have enjoyed their first day in their new digs. They also had their first taste of cracked corn. They liked it. I wasn't sure what they would do at sunset, so I watched them. They were somewhat distressed. Several of them tried to fly straight up. I guess they were trying to roost in trees they couldn't reach. Blondie flew up on top of the coop. A couple tried to join him, but weren't strong enough. I caught those and threw them inside the coop. Eventually I caught them all, and threw them all inside. I'm glad I was able to be home. They'll figure it out in a few days I imagine.

What is CRD?
